i only have xtar wp2 (0.5A or 1A) and (2A i think) chargers
would it be ok to charge 10440 at 0.5a? i dont care about life of batteries so much but dont want them to explode.
thx

What is the capacity of your 10440’s?
Mine are all above 500mAh so charging them at .5A is less than 1C.
That is what I do, charge em’ at .5A
If your 10440’s capacity are less than 500mAh, .5A might be a bit to much. That would be charging them above 1C
mine are 350mah soshine.
i didnt think you could get 500mah 10440 (trustfires have real capacity less than 300mah from what i read)?

…. Disregard what I wrote about “my 10440’”. I had a ‘senior moment’ & was thinking about my AAA Eneloops. My bad.
I charge my 10440’s at .2A
I think anything up to 1C would be fine though. I just happen to use a charger I have that does .2A
@james butcher, what charger do you have?
Unlike NiMH rechargeables, you do not need high current(0,5A+) to charge them properly.
Therefore, for good cycle life, try to charge at 0,3A or lower.
thanks teacher
@blueswordm ive only got xtar wp2 so 0.5a is lowest i have.
just want to know if it will be safe.

If they are IMR they may not explode but the lifetime will be affected a bit.
I charge my 10440 efest IMR at 500mA since about 2013 and still going strong….

@ james butcher
I found this info on the Efest 10440 at Illumn.
According to the info printed there, as well as what was posted above by fran82; you should be good to go charging your 10440’s at up to .5A without undue danger.

James, no worries. They will not explode. May shorten the life of them by a bit and most recommend charging at 0.25A but you’re safe at 0.05A.

I use Soshine mainly in the 10/14/26500 cells.
The 10440’s are Li-Po 280mah. and charge sweet
with my LiitoKala 202 charger on 1\2a.
Over 6 months now and none dead.
I doubt you’d get a “true” 500mah out of a 10 series? would you.
Only in Chinese figures.
thanks for all the info, i charged them last night and they got quite warm so took them of at 3.8v.
ill try again today since my fears have been settled.
