I want to illogically sink money into a cheap 14500 zoomie that I happen to be modestly impressed with its build quality.
MTN is sold out of 7135 regulated 15mm drivers, and I’m not sure this light can handle a FET (the pill is fairly thin Aluminum).
Are there any other 15mm drivers I should be aware of? At least 1.5A (the driver I’ve currently got is 1.0A; I want more) and single or multi-mode is OK as long as there is NO STROBE.
Any ideas?
is there enough room to piggyback one of the smaller drivers?
All I see on MTN are 10, 11, and 12mm FET drivers. Are there 7135 based small drivers at other sources?
1A is about max for small boost drivers. A sense resistor mod beyond that is likely to blow either the input diode, the boost IC, or the sense resistor. Rich has the bare boards and parts to assemble a 7135 driver.
I should have mentioned, I’m not looking for 1.5V and 3.7V duel cell compatibility. I’m OK to convert to 3.7V input. So no boost driver needed.
And Rich is out of stock on those boards (these are what you mean, right?)
That would be my ideal solution, but I was wondering if there were others.

Beef it up a little and stick a 15mm FET in there with the LED on a noctigon.

I was referring to the Bare board which lists 7 in stock. As with any driver assembly it’s a pita but something any diyer should do at least once.
Maybe look for a 16 or 17mm one that can be sanded down?

If you go that route buy two. If the first one works congratulations. You will need a Qlite spring or 5 mm brass button to clear the bottom side 7135’s even with button top cells.

I did and needed both for that Sipik mod. Wasn’t lol then but glad I had the extra.
