Ok… I was thinking the thrunite cat 6 has incredible battery life even in max turbo it lasts for hours not minutes like the monster flood lights which go about 3 min in max turbo. Now I know the lumen count isn’t the same… but a lot of these monster lights use the 18560 usually 8 of them… whether you buy them separately or they come in a batter pack.

So why not use 8 … 26650’s instead? It would certainly give longer max turbo runs… thoughts ?

For substantial runtime improvement, i think 4x or 8x 21700 cells (the LG 4800mAH in particular) would be more advantageous without the large size/weight penalty of 26650s...

Or 3x / 6x 21700s to be more size interchangeable...

But there's the cost of custom machined tubes/carriers or somehow lobbying manufacturers to adopt more capacity in their designs, with interchangeability between models a big plus to keep costs reasonable.

IIRC Acebeam had some battery tube "Lego" options before.

I use my monster lights quite frequently and fumbling with more than 4 cells at a time gets a bit tedious. A better spring-bypassed mousetrap is in order.

hmm ok I’ll take a look at the 21700’s for instance my blf gt uses 8 18650’s and the run time in turbo isn’t half bad 45 min straight drained them to about 50% since these are unprotected I probably wouldn’t want to push it past 60 min. Sure wouldn’t mind different options to make it last longer.

I’d just like to see us with other options rather than the same old 18650’s

The Blf GT has low voltage protection so don’t worry about draining the cells low.

18650s are far more common than 26650, and 26650 is far more common than 21700.
Also you need a handle for lights thicker than 4x18650.

Sorry i am not trying to hijack the thread… i have a blf gt nw running lg mj1 unprotected… i also ordered another blf gt CW which i am planning to run 8 lg mj1…

Am i getting all the max lumen output using lg mj1 ??? Thanks

Then why not post this in one of the GT threads??? Or make your own thread?

Op have a blf gt and have experiences… please dont reply if you are not going to help.

Pretty much everybody posting in the GT threads has a GT.
If you want to talk to the OP about off topic stuff you can use private messages.
Derailing threads is disrespectful, and so it asking someone to “not reply”. This is a public forum.

Chill it’s really not a big deal the blf gt I use has unprotected cells so I do have to be a bit more carefull mine is modded the cft 90 from sky lumen it’s a beast

Go to sky lumen he has battery recs there you can use any 18650 really just some are better than others what are the specs on that battery

The LG MJ1 cells have a 3500 mAH capacity, 10 Amp continuous current rating, INR chemistry. Perfect for medium drain applications.

Use them in my BLF Q8 with great results, longer runtimes than the excellent Samsung 3000mAH pink 30Q cells. Recommend UNprotected button top MJ1s as the protection PCB adds to the cell length, appx 68mm, which may have fitment issues.

Cheers
