18650 battery pack

hey guys.

i have a multi 18650 light the Ultrafire 7XT6 , and want to make a external battery pack like you see with some bike / head lights.

why you are wondering ?

well becaus i dont like to walk around with a pipe bomb and if the battery’s decide to go any way i like to have them in a nylon pouch rater

tan in a sealed metal housing.

so i’m looking for poeple who has done the same .

im starting with a 2.5mm dc dc female to mount in the tail cap, than simply buy or make a external battery pack.

does some one have some tips and tricks?

Btw i’m running a nitecore digicharger D2 for my other 18650 light’s and was wondering of i could use it to charge the potential battery pack ?

I’d say unless you know how to build a balanced 18650 pack you could end up with something far more dangerous, I’d keep the cells in the torch and use high quality branded matched cells and check the voltages with a multi meter and read up on here on the safe use of batteries in a multi cell torch.
If your still worried then drill vent holes in your torch so it’s no longer a sealed metal tube, you can always fill the holes with rubber grommets to keep rain and dirt out, they will blow out easily if the worst happened
