Look around on DX, I’m sure I’ve seen some of those hideous lights around for cheaper. Sorry I don’t have any links of them though, because to me they’re just absolutely butt-ugly.
I have this light in a 2 * 18650 configuration. The body is very thick and the knurling is very aggressive, feels extremely solid and secure in your hand. But it is too small for any protected cells(i guess tailcap mods could allow protected cells to be accommodated), has very little light output and seems more like a weapon. It’s very cheap on the internals(the LED) but a very very solid host if you are looking to modify it. I gifted it to my friend because I had no use for a weaponised flashlight that outputs fuck all light, once again it could be modded with an xm-l U2 and become a huge output light with a great rugged body, perfect for basically anything. If you have any questions in regards to my light I can try and answer them as best I can but don’t expect too much I’m still learning everything
Edit: I have no idea where to purchase this light as a friend of my fathers bought it in china along with a generic ultrafire cree q5 and brought them back to us here in Australia
Slewflash, yes this is fire-kylin copy (although i now see it is 2x18650 vs 3xCR123)
and you are right, it is not cheap.
Saint_Jimmy90 thanks for the offer, i do intend to do a couple of mods to the light so quality of internals is not much of an issue in this case, its the body i’m after.
In that case you have made a fine choice, even if i’m also not a fan of the attack bezel. The body itself is very thick and heavy, feels like it’s encouraging you to strike things with it, if you get the thermal paths done correctly it should heatsink very well. The body of this light impresses me greatly(it must be say 3mm of solid aluminium or steel in the narrowest parts of the battery tube :O) I just have a beef with no protected cells and shitty internals. I suppose a $15 u2 xm-l dropin from manafont could be made to fit and make this into a high powered attack weapon of huge light outputs, aka. an awesome light I will be very interested to hear what you do with this mod so keep me informed, I may very well attempt to copy it and make use of the potential of this unit
Although my interest is not on the firekylin light but the second much more affordable light I will combine (transfer) my interest to that thread as well.

Although 7.5 usd is a much better deal than 16, it still seems reasonable.
After searching ebay for a better price (didn’t find) for 30-40 min, i almost pulled the trigger on this.
I will try to be a little patient, in case i find a better deal real soon.
Anyhow, this baby is officially no1 on my ‘to buy’ list.
(i plan on modding this to xm-l or xp-g2?, 1.4 or 1.7 A single mode driver and if possible a forward clicky)
Now, the happy long waiting begins.
Quality on this light seems minimal, it will be hard to get disappointed though, i have set my expectations to ‘very low’.
I will be very interested to hear what you do with this mod so keep me informed, I may very well attempt to copy it and make use of the potential of this unit
