My wife is looking for a taser to take when she goes running. The first think she found was a taser shaped like a flashlight, but with usb charging built in. Like this one. It doesn’t show it, but it must be 18650 based. If so, it wouldn’t make sense to get a rechargeable taser when I have a few Panasonic 3400Ps and an Opus. Do you guys have any experience with similar items? I found a few threads on here, but many are several years old.
Thanks!
John
I believe our Tasers at work put the stats at 50,000 volts 7 watts equals 1.4 milliamps. The live stock model is 26 watts 5.2 milliamps. If those are in the ad are really 230 million volts and it’s the amps that stun your looking at 35,000 watts. Paschen’s law is about 3.4 million volts per meter. Not bad if they are what they say they are. They could arc a bolt of electricity 220 feet, and have the power to run 20 hair dryers. Real stun devices:Taser, shock belt and stun cuffs (looks like a pressure cuff, use on unruly defendants) and shock shields run at 50,000-75,000 volts and are court tested.
Look at getting your wife pepper spray. It’s legal in your state, it’s got a range of about 15’. Stun guns require contact. I prefer the 2-5% they make up to 12% but it’s cheaper stuff and the higher % sputters. Look at the SHU between 1 and 2 million. Use alcohol base it’s throws better and burns longer. LEO’s are using water base, because tasers and alcohol don’t mix well. Don’t be stingy if your going to spray then let it spray well. Most sprays have a UV dye so cops can identify them up to 3 days later with a UV light. They often also have a visible dye for identification. When used wash everything well and toss out the can. It’s not what you asked for but I believe it’s better.
Great, detailed response! Thank you very much. I will look into this when I get to lift my head up from work.
