18650 shelf life?? Are they LSD or ???

I’m used to dealing with AA/AAA and Eneloop LSD vs crap I put in the kids WII controllers. So if I want to put an SK98 with a Samsung 2600 in the glove box of my car during summer heat or Michigan winter how long will the battery last? Lets say unprotected since I hear the protection circuit has some drain to it.

IMV it really is not a good idea to leave a rechargeable lithium cell in a car, especially where there are hot summers. There have been many threads/posts about this subject. A quick search should give you all the info you need.

With the 98 could you not just use it as an EDC?

Low self discharge, yes. And if placed deep in glovebox, it is quite insulated and the temp is much cooler than the rest of the car. So my opinion it is doable.

That being said, it is still much better to use primary lithium if you can. That’s the off-the-shelf chemistry that can stand heat best - rated to be within working range at 60C.

I suppose I could EDC it. But it might look funny depending on where I carry it wearing a suit and tie. Would be much more useful in the car. I have on Olight i3s? or something like that on my keychain. I want a car light. I guess I can stick with an SK68 in the car with an alkaline in it. Wait, I have 14500’s. In fact I have 2 fancy non-rechargeable SAFT 14500’s. (ordered by mistake) Would those work for long term in the car glovebox use in a SK68? I should probably use google-fu to search this site for “glovebox”.

I think saft 14500 is safe to use in car,
I have a RF ID device on my window, which has a saft 14500 inside.

What could possibly happen? They’d probably all think you’re a member of the Secret Service. Chicks dig that, you know! :stuck_out_tongue:

As long as you choose placement carefully.
Otherwise, they might just assume that you’re happy to see them
