18650 thrower under $100 ?

Ok ladies and gents…
Ive been asking around a few places now… and have received some nice suggestions.
I have plenty of cheep little ecds and a few floods and some stupid spots that run off my wifi’s 130ah deepcell…

Will probably be getting a thrunite tn12 as a beltclip light…
Acebeam k40 also has my interest given the price vs a tn32… it seems a little large to rifle mount… and the t12 seems a little small.

As such I’m asking about for a good throwing 2x18650 light suitable for bolt action rifle…use In area with 3km+ (2mile) open line of sight…
No I can’t shoot that far… but with a scope I can see… If there is light… and then walk on over…
Will double as a target when setting up wifi p2p links in the field (30km range)

Right now the crelant 7g5cs has my interest but I wonder if there isn’t something better out there in the sub $100 ballpark ?
Hi/low/strobe a must.
Suggestions ?

Search the forum for thrower/budget thrower or similar…
Don’t have experience in this, but I think maxtoch’s might be what you want…
Mudgripz should be able to offer good advice, I believe he does lots of hunting…

Welcome, by the way…
Cheers
Anton

If you’re up for a bit of modding, Small Sun make a 7g5cs clone called the ZY-T13. Forward-clicky on/off tail with mode select side switch, turn it off and it comes back on in high. Hearsinking is good, you should be able to throw a noctigon’ed XM-L2 in the head and use a trimpot on the driver to get 3 amps to the emitter without pushing the stock driver too hard.

T-Mart have an eBay store with a US-based warehouse, and they say they ship to Australia.

Olight MX? Maxtoch SN6X-2X?

Orlight seems a bit small if I’m looking at the right one…
The maxtoch/small sun/crelant look like a good form factor to me.
Im not really up to modding a light myself… dont have time with work. And my luck i would kill it…

What would one of those with good throw, as close to 1k lumen otf as possible. High low strobe preferred with mode memory to inc the strobe cost ? And who would be good to assemble ?
Or am i dreaming for the budget i have ?

I have a like new 7G5CS and aspheric head I might be looking at selling soon (both with boxes)

I was under the impression the 7g5cs was quite a good light! How come your wanting to get rid of it ?

Rifle lights need to be reasonable size and weight.
Sounds like Maxtoch M24 Sniper —modded—should be perfect.
Body tube is slim enough for 24/30mm rings& rail mounts.

Don’t have it yet— but I Will !

Hah. Link says no longer available!
Review says no strobe.
Apart from that it does appear quite interesting!

Mudgripz seems quite knowledgeable about these Kiwi- made lights
( and its big brother the Max Toch 6NX 2x, and little brother M12)
and says they will be available again soon.

Couldnt find a review for stock m24 vs 7g5cs
How would it stack up dedomed vs say a thrunite v5 ?

^ This!

Ballpark on a modded m24 vs crelant 7G5CS with aspheric in terms of throw and price ?

Sorry, “Kiwi influenced”

Quote from Mudgripz about M24
“”This Maxtoch has been designed specifically as a lightweight, high performance hunting and outdoors light – with alot of input from NZ hunters and BLF members (Tom E, manualman etc).“”

First of all can you do some modding? Or you want something throw well right out of the box?

Maxtoch SN6X 2X might be what you are looking for.

But if you can do basic mod you may look for Trustfire X7, should cost you about $50 with bigger reflector than the SN6X 2X but probably cheaper quality. Swap the LED into dedomed XM-L2 on Noctigon and you will have something that throws well over 1km.

EDIT: Sorry, just did a quick search just now and I couldn’t find X7 that cheap anymore.

So the m24 has me quite interested… the lack of strobe lessened that interest some…
And no i haven’t modded before but have a few tools in the shed so may attempt in the future.
Right now between work. Property and family I don’t have time to mess about with it so would prefer to buy out of the box ready to go. Even if that is modded before delivery kind of thing.

I just went fk it and brought a thrunite tn12 as a belt/work light so strobe isnt required on the rifle mount light… tho i would prefer to have the option.
Depending on the eta and reviews I may end up with a thrunite catapult v3, v5 or a crelant 7G5CS still. But price vs the promised performance on the m24 is aĺl that stopped me getting a 7g5cs tonight.
Would like to see a selfbuilt review of m24

Olight is at least as big as Maxtoch M24 but throwier. It’s also bigger than SmallSun. It’s really great flashlight. Maxtoch SN6X-2X is bigger and has more throw than all other flashlights mentioned here.

De-domed it does 365Kcd. The newer version is a bit smaller and lighter weight, both have the standard 1” tube section for rifle mount. The new one would probably suit your fancy quite well and work nicely with the scope.

If I recall correctly I got the 2x in a group buy at $59.

SN6X-2S for $65.50

SN6X-2X for $75.50

It is a freakin awesome light. Ill be selling the aspheric head no matter what since I dont use it. I just have way too many lights so I sold/am selling about 20-25 of them. I have an armytek Barracuda, which is pretty much made to withstand foring from a fully auto AR15 but I love it too much to sell. If you want to bump your budget up to like $130 then look into one of those.
