I am surprised to see a big difference in light colour

I’d guess that this has a lot to do with the image itself and the drive level. Cameras do not capture tint well when the spot is approaching overexposure.
Also, while I have not proven this definitively, the reflector has an effect on tint too. I’ve changed from a plastic reflector to an aluminum reflector and noticed a change in tint, everything else being the same.
Cree have very tight tolerances on the tint binning, well under 0.5% IIRC.
I find the best way to compare tints is bare emitter.
In real life the cyclone is actually a bit more blue/purple
the drive on the cyclone has little difference between low medium and high
you might be on to something on the reflector, however i haven’t yet been able to take the romisen pill apart

Relic, don’t the tint bins cover a range for each tint? Xab - Xcd, Yef -Ygh so a 1D tint could be either on the green side or the pink side of the black body line or up to 500^K warmer or cooler in the same tint bin. Their binning might be more accurate than this but I don’t know.
My experiance is that... xpg's look better than xmls .
I think in general the cri is higer and they suffer less from auras and rainbowing of odd colors ,doughnut holes etc...
it's also true that any emitter side by side with the same emitter will have variations in tints of the same bin .. Go ahead buy multiples ,sell the ones you don't like and be a tint snob ...iI am :P
I think I wanted The Nichia hi cri to be the perfect emitter too ..and 3 copies proved to me that side by side I like one over the other two ..But at that point it's being very very picky since in real life they all are very nice tints with nice hi cri .
Boaz is right, I have 3 XPG R5’s and 5 Xml’s and all of the Xpg’s are much nicer than the Xml’s, with the exception of my BC40 which I think is NW.
