Why can’t I charge a new 21700 battery above 3.5 V? This happens on a charger with cells for two batteries; I put both batteries to charge and one reached 4.15 V but the other battery cannot exceed 3.5 V: is the battery defective? will the 3.5 V battery supply power for less time?
They are Molicel 21700 P45B.

Where are you getting that reading?
Have you tried that battery in both bays on your charger?
Thank you for answering; yes, I have tested both batteries in both cells and I get the same readings; just now I see that the needle started to go up, it shows 3.7 volts, and the other battery has been fully charged for more than two hours. And it also reads 0.480 mAh.
I’d suspect an issue with the charger before I’d suspect the Molicel P45B.

I am in doubt because of two contradictory pieces of information:
1 With other batteries, both cells of that charger (Xtar VC2) behaved with very similar results.
2 I put the battery in the cell in which I had charged the other battery, and it started to mark a voltage rise but still much slower than another battery.
What voltage is it at now?
Hello, it is at 3.8 volts
Clean the terminals on both the charger and the cell.
