Because Hank is respectfully abiding by the site rules:

Also because a single thread usually means many people are subscribed and receive notifications when there is an update.

In contrast, when using one thread per item, each one starts from zero subscribers and can easily go unnoticed. This is the opposite of how sites like Reddit and Facebook work, but it has been a big factor in why detailed development and long-term projects happen here instead of on other sites. It’s nearly impossible to have threads longer than a few days on most social media sites, so the interactions tend to be shallow. Here though, we can easily keep a conversation going for years.

There are review threads for each individual model if you look around too

Once the thread changed from K1 to KR1 I stopped getting updates. Only when I posted again[when changed to KR1] did I receive updates. Most likely because the Thread Title changed.

Regardless of that finding info from the light that interests me is now buried by another light.

I wish you would have answered my email about your Anduril as enthusiastically as you replied to this.

This has never happened to me with this thread, the Convoy thread or any other that has had a title change.

There is a “search within thread” function for that purpose.

Thanks.

However those reviews do not pertain to the SBT90.2 version that I am getting. Primarily because most people are still waiting for their lights.

I try to answer people’s questions when I have time, but it’s on a volunteer basis, not my job. So other tasks frequently take priority.

In this case, I was away for a few days… and when I got back I found:

  • Two private messages about this question
  • Three public messages about this question, in two different threads
  • Four public answers, including two videos
  • Four confirmations that the answers had been received

Seemed like it had been covered pretty thoroughly and didn’t need another redundant answer… so I moved on and tried to handle some of the literally thousands of other messages waiting for attention.

Usually, asking in public is a good default thing to try first. It tends to produce faster responses than going to the source since there are more people available to answer. Some folks really enjoy being helpful, and appreciate having a chance to contribute by sharing their knowledge. It also benefits others because everyone can see the question and answer together. Instead of helping just one, it helps anyone who reads it, anyone who puts a similar question into a web search. So when I have time to spend on BLF, I usually focus on public threads.

I’m sorry that my absence and the way I prioritize tasks left you feeling neglected, but I hope it makes sense now. This isn’t my job, it’s a thing I do as a hobby for fun.

I understand that you are busy and this is a hobby and not a job.

There are Two reasons why I mentioned this on the forum.

One, I did not get a response via PM the First time.

Two, I saw that your Green light was ON right after I sent the PM.

Time to get some sleep I just turned 60 a minute ago and need my sleep. My girlfriend has a wonderful day planned for me.

Have a good day

Dude you still don’t get it. ToyKeeper has absolutely no obligation to respond to your messages. None. At all.

Doesn’t matter if you sent a PM. Doesn’t matter if her “green light was ON”.

She owes you absolutely nothing.

She is well within her rights to read your message and then completely ignore it and move on with her life. I know that’s what I’d do.

THIS

10000000000%

I have PM’d her before and I don’t keep track of if she is online or not, I just assume she will get back to me at some stage IF SHE HAS TIME

edit: and she has gotten back to me each and every time, IN HER OWN TIME

Yeah right, well the KR1 should be shipping soon, that’s exciting!

Any indications if shipping time is starting to recover?

Ah, right. I frequently have scripts running, and that probably looks a bit weird from the outside. Like, if something interesting is happening and I know I’ll be away for a bit, sometimes I leave something running to save snapshots for later in case posts get deleted.

More generally though, “away” doesn’t always mean physically away… it often just means I’m busy with something else. In this case, I spent most of a day on a date with my partner, and most of the next day travelling with her back home. I got some good exercise biking that night, but then completely failed to sleep because the neighbor kid got a brand new free-standing basketball hoop and spent about 12 hours going “thud thud thud BANG” next to my window. It’s normal that I can’t sleep at night because I’m nocturnal, but thanks to his new toy, I couldn’t really sleep during the day either. For a few days I was kind of a grumpy zombie and couldn’t seem to get much done, so I took some time off and made a cheesy song. I wasn’t on BLF much that week… and I didn’t get anywhere on my actual projects either, like a long-overdue KR4 review.

Things like that have been far more common lately thanks to everyone sheltering at home… so I’ve been looking into soundproofing materials. I’m hoping a solid sound-absorbing window plug will help, but I still need to find a way to get the materials here so I can build one.

Anyway, I’m glad you found answers to everything. I’m pretty unreliable, but there’s usually someone around who can lend a hand.

From what you said earlier, she sounds like quite a catch! If we don’t hear from you tomorrow, I’ll assume you’re both having a great time celebrating your birthday… instead of chatting on forums with a grumpy, erratic night creature.

Back on topic though, I think the new KR1 looks really nice, and it may be the item which finally dethrones the D1 I’ve been carrying around for years. With the right LED inside, it can throw almost as far as the much-larger D1S… but it’s still small enough to leave in my purse and forget about until I need it.

I did not expect any support because I am new and TK is established and has done a lot for the community. That is ok, I am not a follower of the norm. I have always spoke my mind.

Here is an example: When someone calls me “Dude” it is a reflection of their intellect.

TK thanks for being able to communicate in a gentle and professional way.

Time to move on,more important things to do.

PEACE OUT

One last thought. I totally understand if TK was busy, forgot or on vacation. The issue is your logic.

To say that she owes me nothing and has a right to completely ignore me is so off base. Did you know that she invented the Anduril firmware? That is what the question was about. She is obligated to answer questions about a product she created.

That is like buying a new car, calling the dealer with a question and they do not respond. That makes them look bad. Not good customer service relations.

Honestly I think your view point is skewed.

In closing I will say that this will Never change.

Two people have a discussion and there are differences. People join in, takes sides.

What does that do? It creates more conflict and controversy.

Why do people do that? They want to bolster their ego, feel important and want the person they sided with to like them.

You will NEVER see me get involved in others differences

What I have to realize is that I can not change people and stuff like this will continue.

Peace Out.

Cherish each day.

I’m so close to buying this beauty. If only I’d need a pocket thrower.

Isn’t Anduril free for anyone to download and use?

ToyKeeper didn’t create or sell you the flashlight you purchased.

Anduril isn’t a product, the flashlight that runs it is the product.

However the manufacturer that sells anduril running flashlights will not likely to answer your question, because it is running on a non modified version of a free software, and also because they probably don’t understand it well enough at a programming level.

Then who is responsible for answering questions regarding anduril, assuming that the flashlight is not faulty? Technically nobody, but in places like this forum you’ll surely receive all the help you need.

Think of this: you’ve bought an amazon fire tablet and you want android on it, so you go and download one of the custom rom that is widely and freely available. Neither amazon or the creator of the custom rom is responsible for what happens between you and your tablet running an third party software.

Flashlights that run anduril are essentially just a “blank machine”, it just comes pre-programmed with the FW of our choice by the manufacturer. They could probably offer a version with their own crappy FW, but they don’t because we ask for anduril.

I understand your point specially if you weren’t aware of what I explained above. It is important that people understand what it is they’re buying, now that anduril is becoming so popular.

Interesting fact: Did you know that andúril is a lord of the rings reference, called after the sword that was re-forged from the shards of narsil? (also a flashlight FW). Narsil was the sword with which the fingers of sauron was cut, granting king Isildur ownership of the one ring. Why is this relevant? Because I bet you that almost none of the flashlights manufacturers can tell you what andúril means, yet it is one of the most attractive selling point of their products.

Ok, I could quote clips from the trilogy all day (read the books several times before the movies were out), but my SBT90.2 K1 IOS order finally got movement and is here in my local PO! Should be delivered tomorrow

Wow, someone has an attitude problem.

That ideology is already flawed and and she isn’t obligated to do anything, Yes she created the firmware but its free for anyone to download. Its like if you used linux as an OS and believed that Linus Torvalds the creator was obligated to answer your questions.

This is also a flawed ideology of the “customer is always right” cause the dealer’s game is moving a car they know the basics of the features etc etc but they don’t know ANYTHING about the engine tolerances or the current fuel to air ratio set in the ECU and how to change it, BUT just like there is an aftermarket willing to answer those questions much like BLF is for flashlights.

How is the view point skewed ? Honestly its straight forward believing just cause someone created something doesn’t mean they are obligated to answer your questions about it, they can if they want to but they are by no means OBLIGATED to answer anything.
