26650 Headlamp Dongrui DR-B18

Just spotted this 26650 headlamp over at Manafont. $29.70 Too bad it's Hi-Lo-Strobe! Light mount seems decent and the clipable battery pack is nice so you can place it on the headstrap or on your shirt/pants/etc. . .

So CheapThrills, you up to being the Guinea Pig?

EDIT: Photo Added

Looks cool.

You could wear a dong on your head if you bought it!

People would call you a dickhead.

Speedsix, what is wrong with you?

writing stupid stuff all over this evening…. personally i think its pointless and immature… :~

Yeah, I'm not sure what's up with him. He's still doing it.

I’m really liking this light. I’ve been wanting a 26650 light. I hope it’s more of a thrower, although I think not from the pictures.

I'm kinda thinking now that I'd rather have two parallel 18650's than a 26650 in a headlamp.

(And I'm coming back to this post thinking it generated some discussion and it's a bunch of crap.)

I agree that’s uncalled for!!!

a 26650 on your head? Talk about heavy and off balance.

One cell is safe. That’s why I like it. How is dual parallel batteries?

Not if you don’t put the battery pack on your head. I could sort of understand doing that with a helmet, but not for anything else.

Nice find Garry!
I think I will skip this, though… Too many issues open with Mana now. :frowning:

I like the idea of getting 26650 off from head- even 18650 dongrui felt “nose heavy” in head…

BTW: got mail today - the previous DR has now been taken off from sale due issues in specifications.

Seems a legit XM-L, probaby just way too throwy for my uses. I think I will skip this at least for the moment…

I’ll go ahead and be the guinea pig with this light. Hopefully it’s a really good light that will catch on as I’d love to see more lights with external 26650 battery packs, particularly battery packs that allow the cells to be removed.

You know, one positive about this type of battery pack is that it should hold up better. I think the ones that snap closed, or use a screw may wear out rather quickly. However, the threads on this one look rather junky.

EDIT: Added photo to the O.P. Also, I just noticed that it comes with a bike mount.

Would you want me to test the bike mount? I am planning to mount this to a helmet, but I can give the bar mount a try.

I’m not worried about the threads as long as they work. I’ve learned the hard way to reverse fasteners until the threads sync, and then tighten. I don’t see o-rings, so that might be an issue if I take up bike touring. I live in an area where rain is rarely a hassle, so this light will be okay for short rides.

If you can test the bike mount, sure. Yeah, I've also learned the "turn in reverse until threads sync" trick.

Even though I already bought this thing, what I really want is a HD2010 version of this. Although it’d be slightly better if the modes were in the opposite order (low to high) and didn’t have SOS…or OSO. I can accept a slower strobe mode since some cyclists prefer that.
