Wanted to show a light that Vesture of Blood made for me. So impressed with it. It is a Mag 2D that runs 2x26650. The leds are 3xMTG2. It has short reflectors installed over the LEDs.
It’s running direct drive about 3-4 volts each. Don’t have a light meter, but doing the math approximate 6000 lumens.
He also supplied a 26650 sleeve and includes a recessed tail spring mod, borofloat lens.
I wanted a light with a lot if spill and little to no hot spot. I am going to use it fishing at night when I’m walking along the bank with no other lights but the moon if it’s out.
Email or PM him & he will build you what you want.
Just received it yesterday, so haven’t got to test it with fresh cells. Plan to try it out tomorrow. I’m sure it will get hot fast, but at least I can hold it further down.
So it has only one mode? I wonder how long is the run time. May not be enough for your night fishing.
Very impressive anyway!
For night fishing you need a good headlight too. I once went hunting for razor clams on Maine shore using a nitecore EC25 and a olight wave H15. Both served me really well.
Awesome build, I myself wanted him to build something similar for me too.
My thinking is that the light is 3 MTG2’s wired in parallel so that they all share the 8.4V input. This means you get 8~12A at the tailcap. What this means is you have to have a Driver in there to carry the current through because the stock Mag switch can only handle 6A or so.
Most likely you have a FET Direct Drive Driver from MTNelectronics. I have these drivers too and they totally rock and kick butt compared to 7135 based drivers.
Congrats and enjoy that Flood beast you got there!!!
