Is there anywhere I can buy a 3up 20mm Star PCB with XQ-E’ Hi Intensity LED’s
? I want to match it with a Carclo 10507.
Anywhere in the Stares? Ledsupply said they can’t.
Or is there anyone on the forum who does custom PCB’s like that?

User Hoop has made custom MCPCBs before, I think. Cutter has an account here - user welight. They make MCPCBs. If you can’t get anyone to make one for you, you could always have a regular PCB made by OSHPark. You just need to get it designed, which several around here can do. Then, you upload the design to OSHPark and order some made. I’ve often thought a triple or quad XQ-E would be interesting, but I don’t have any XQ-E and no plans to buy any soon. Let us know how it goes!
Are you sure you want to do that? Have you personally used a 10507? I don't think it will do what you're expecting.
Expecting something like this?

So you haven't used one, and only looked at graphs. OK.
10507 is a big, even spot with a sharp cutoff out at the edge. No hotspot, no throw. I'm guessing you were hoping for something totally different because of the LED choice. 10511 is more like a 'normal' reflector beam pattern.
So, you’re randomly PMing people, asking if they know where to get a 3up 20mm XQE? Or just me? :weary:
This isn’t an led that we commonly use. They are tiny and they have no separate thermal pad. I don’t think anyone has used it to make a triple with a carclo TIR lens.
Sorry about that. A Google search of PCB’s and XQ-E took me to a thread where you seemed knowledgable about XQ-E’s.
Again sorry
Actually i have, on a lightsaber. That’s why I’m interested in a XQ-E Hi
Right now the most popular led application from custom lightsaber companies is a 3up xpe2 with a Carclo 10507.
Here’s an example (lighting at 4 min mark)
And here is the chart of the 10507 with 3up xp-e
I just thought the XQ-E with that same 10507 optic would provide a much fuller and brighter light inside the polycarbonate lightsaber “blade”
No problem. Just felt odd. And was wondering if there was a reason.
Whatever I once knew, I think I forgot. But searching my own posts for “XQ-E HI” brings it back of course.
Hey, lightsabers!
I think the XQ-E uses the same emitter die as the XP-E2. XQ-E just puts it in a smaller package, which is helpful for some uses.
Do the lightsaber people ever de-dome their XP-E2s? That should provide the same beam pattern as an XQ-E HI (if they do indeed use the same emitter die).
~ edit ~
Comparing the XP-E2 and XQ-E datasheets, it does appear to me that they use the same emitter die.
I’m looking at Blue and Royal Blue, all the minimum radiant flux numbers match between XP-E2 and XQ-E (high density / dome version).
Comfy, isn’t a 10511 the same as a 10507 except that it’s frosted.?
No, not even close. 10507 has recessed domes in the front surface and flat inside above the emitter hole, 10511 has a flat front. Their beam characteristics are totally different.
