3xAAA Serengeti. Is this moddable?

I found this old flashlight I never use, it is terrible compared to my L2i with an LC-1 drop in (I believe stock). I looked up the Serengeti, seems to be an old $4-6 light. So I wouldn’t care a ton if I screwed up the mod. Is this thing even moddable? I haven’t modded any lights before.

Posting pics asap.

Wasn’t sure how to break this down further.

You may be able to use an 18500 battery in it, rather than the 3xAAA in the carrier. That was the first “mod” I did awhile ago, with the Techlite lights from Costco.

I don’t know about the one you have, but the Techliite had the driver electronics in the tailcap itself, and if the Serengeti is like that, I’m not sure if you’d be able to find a replacement/better driver, but you could probably replace the emitter with something else, like an XP-G2 or XM-L/L2 (latter would make the light more flood).

I don't know much about modding...

but I approve this message:

I think you’re on the wrong forum. These guys have modded plastic dollar store lights.

The right question is, “would any SANE person mod this light” :stuck_out_tongue:

New driver, new emitter, maybe a new switch. Worst that happens is you fry a couple parts and learn something. And have lots of fun along the way.
