Tips for Installing Solar Power Garden Lights

It is important to make sure that if solar garden lights are a good fit for your area or not. While most don’t need to be exposed to direct sunlight all day in order to charge, they will accumulate and store power more resourcefully if they are installed in direct sunlight areas.

They will still charge on cloudy or partial cloudy days, however not as fully or quickly as it should be. Try to place them in direct sunlight areas whenever possible, or consider choosing solar lights that connect to a single solar panel that you can place in a sunny location, such as roof of your house.

When solar lights first came out on the scene they came build up on stakes and most people used them for path lighting. Now you can find them for hanging on lofty poles that look like lanterns to light up a corridor, they can also be mounted on walls, fence, or inserted into a floor for safety. The lights on tall poles will lead your guests across a grassy area of your garden without stumbling into something on their way to an outdoor living area.

Solar Lights are made of the same materials as most traditional equipment which makes them pretty durable; some consist of plastic and others are made of copper, aluminum, bronze etc. They come in different sizes and many shapes, and do not cost as much to operate since they get powered from the sun. Place decorative solar garden lights where garden paths join together or in areas where they are a good fit for lightning.

Outdoor solar lights is something that I wished would start using brand names so that we could start building a concept of which manufacturers are high quality, and that they would start using some simple and uniform descriptions of what they do.

As it is, these things seem to mostly disposable junk, bought on impulse, that disappoint, and then get thrown in the trash eventually.

Usually it’s due to the NiCD battery going bad…no charge controller…solar charger just keeps pushing power into the battery…either it OVER charges it or undercharges it and eventually the NiCD battery goes kaput

They do work “ok” if you could charge control properly to a environmentally sealed unit would be much better

I am really tempted to convert one of these over to a Ultra-low power energy harvesting setup

I like the overhead design though…stick these on the rain gutters and the light shines down rather than on one of those little pedestal ones that are usually in the shadow of the house or whatever

Being that Li Ion 14500 battery are “sealed” rather than vented like NiCD or even NiMH so a bit more environmentally protected

Either way I like the overhead design

Should we start marking posts like this as spam?? Kinda getting sick of seeing all the advertising on this site.

It’s appropriately posted in the right forum.

When you view “all new posts” that includes the commercial forum posts.

That’s how the forum works here.

Just ignore stuff and don’t follow up in the posts and they won’t stay new.
Dagnabbit. I shouldn’t have commented here, either.

I thought sellers must have a thread for their sales, and edit it accordingly, and not create a new thread for every disposable item they want to offer

+1

Or have 1 thread they keep updating with deals
