5.5v, 2A, single mode: does a driver like this exist? or...

hello everyone.

I’m a light sculptor, and I use a lot of knowledge from flashlight to build my structures. so thanks guys for all your sharing.

lately I’ve been asked to build several lamps and I would like to power them with a USB source, so no battery.

normally I use a single mode 12v driver from DX because I need more than 2A,

but for this case I found only a 1.4A driver but the input is 4.2v so I have to add a diode to forward less current and I can’t keep all cooled.

can you tell me if something like this exist or how to build it?

+ 5.5v input, more than 2A but less than 2.5A, single mode, better if all the wiring is on the top side so I can attach a heatsink on the back of the driver.

or

I used some 220v 0.7A, that are very compact and works very well, but 0.7 is not enough.

is there a driver for an XML2/XPL straight from 220v and more or less 2A???

thanks a lot!

Check out the Mtn Max driver or This one is less expensive.

they looks good! but how about the cooling? as they are non single sided I can’t attach a heatsink on the back… the lamps I’m making have the led and the driver in two different cases.

put the driver in an aluminium tube that makes contact with the sides would be enough?

The second one is essentially single sided with no components on the back just drill a hole in the heat sink to pass the positive wire through after soldering it to the center pad. Cover the bottom with a thin layer of non conductive epoxy and let it cure before attaching to a heat sink and your good to go.

Don’t know about 220AC to 5VDC converters but they do exist.
