I’m super tempted to pull the trigger on one of the 18x Cree Lights. It’s just too ridiculous not to try and acquire.

At least it doesn't have anodized tailcap threads. That makes it easy for me to resist. That, and I'm clueless about drivers that can handle that much voltage, current and be controlled with a side clickie.

A few online shops have this lil fella. 2 things I see about this thing:

1. It’s bloody expensive for what would just end up being a heavy flood light.
2. So little surface area to shed the massive amount of heat generated from a moderately driven 18x light.

Seems like a silly investment to me when you can just get a super modded light at about the same cost that will do all the flood or throw that you want.

Even those problems can be acceptable. If it could be well powered for a few minutes at a time it'd still have great throw. Having lots of flood isn't a bad thing. The driver is the big problem. Is there a driver than can drive all emitters to 3A? Would it have a reasonable long running low mode, and would it have a good temporary turbo mode? Another problem for modding is that it'll probably require every single mcpcb to be trimmed. As troublesome and expensive as that'd be, it'd probably be better if manufacturers released a CAD schematic of the emitter layout so that a multi emitter Sinkpad could be custom made without having to measure the reflector. If this thing could legitimately produce 18 thousand lumens for a few minutes, I bet there's quite a few people that would pay hundreds of dollars for it. Maybe not on this cheap forum, but vinhnguyen54 seems to have lots of success finding customers for his expensive modded lights.
