My neighbor gave me this. It was working and he dropped it during the last power failure...now it's not. I tested the bulb and its okay. Its got five mismatched D cells that tested fine. I want to take the head off, but can't seem to. Are they glued? Is there a special trick.
I don't know what I'll do with it. I saw it when it was working, and it put out a small puddle of yellow light. With such a small head and reflector is there any point in even bothering to put an LED in it. It also weighs a ton.
Weather or not its worth modding is up to you. I certainly like a modded mag myself.
The heads are not glued. The threads may be corroded or just mashed if it was dropped on the head. Maybe you could try a strap wrench. If that doesn't get remove the reflector and and lens, get it hot and try Again. I have never seen a single maglite that does not have a thread on head ACCEPT for the Mag Charger.
