8th Old Lumens Challenge is CLOSED !!!

I am in for machine build . Parts are ordered. Now to remember how to start a thread .

I will join. Hand made. trying to create a theme.

Great! Looking forward to it

OP has been updated with an end date. 5th of January seemed like a good fit.

Great! Your thread was added to the list

I’ll be joining the modded category!

I’ve created a thread. Here’s the link!

I would like to say i’m keeping on top of things and encouraging all the contestants but i’ve been a little busy with work lately. Aside from fathers day last week i haven’t even had any time to work on my own stuff.

But the good news is there’s still plenty of time to enter  So if you’re thinking about it… make the commitment. Everyone will appreciate what you bring to the table

Here is my entry topic for the OL contest, modified flashlight category: Skylight's 8th BLF OL contest entry, modified flashlight [DDH ML778SL FINISHED]

I’m still doing some brainstorming and experiments to see which host and parts I will use.

That's the spirit :)

I have a project in mind, but I am not sure if it will be feasible to make it in time (personal time and shipping time). In case I enter, it will be to handmade category. But, again, it is something I will be able to tell in some weeks .

Meanwhile, good luck to all contestants

Despite having all the parts for my build (as well as for at least 9 other mods that I can think of), I don’t think I’ll be making any progress until like December at this rate. But, I am still hopeful I’ll be able to finish!

Yeah , I got my parts , but I keep changing my mind what I want to attempt. I’m glad we have till January.

Ouch.

Anyone need some inspiration? Check out the huge list of home made flashlights on youtube

MtnDon and YuvalS have finished their builds. Well done guys

I hope everyone has their parts ordered.

Well, my possiblity to enter this year’s contest is slowly fading.
One important thing for me would be to have appropriate drivers and unfortunatelly I’ve not been able to order it/them (as I would chose the modding project meanwhile…).

So, maybe I won’t be in after all. Let’s see how next weeks go…

Congrats to the ones that have it finished yet and good luck for the still ongoing projects

Thanks, although I still have to take some final pictures :)

Is there any chance that one of the "TBD" prizes will be a headlamp?

Packages from china arrive in about 2 weeks now so you still have some time ;)

Well, to here they normally take almost a month, but I am not ordering from China.
I would order from our member Lexel but maybe due to his recent conditions or being busy he’s been absent for a while.
So I’ll have to wait for a reply.

As I announced in post #12 I started a build thread for my 20cm fresnel lens thrower that I would like to use to enter the competition this year.

I’m not sure though in which category it should be, or even if it fits any of the categories. It is almost entirely made from scratch, with loose parts, but it does use a 21700-size battery tube/switch from a Yootoo SD2, because that is IMO really the best and safest way to make a battery carrier for this build. So that makes it fall out of the handmade category. But it is not a modded flashlight either, or you would have to call it a heavily modded SD2

Any ideas if this can be an entry this year? If not, I’m fine anyhow, I’m having a lot of fun building it

Hello everyone. Apologies for the delay in up keeping this thread. Aside from being busy at work i just cycled 240km over the weekend in a place that had in/out phone reception. Getting back on track now....
Well, my possiblity to enter this year's contest is slowly fading. If you eventually get your parts you can always go ahead with the build :-) Or wait till next year ;)
Is there any chance that one of the "TBD" prizes will be a headlamp? laughing
Good question. I'll investigate but don't get your hopes up :ARROW-RIGHT:
I did think your build is worthy of the OL comp :star: It would need to go in the modified category. I understand it’s not a conventional modification but the last point of the handmade rules is pretty clear. Shall i add it to the modified list?

Yes please!
