Was after some help from members. Trying to decide on a new flashlight. Been going back and forth between the Maxtoch SN6X-2X and the Thrunite TN31. Would love some comparison shots between the two if you own both lights.
Also after comparison shots between the 2X and other flashlights such as M2x Javelot, K40m, olight sr51, tn32, tn35 and any other light you have available.
The 2X claim to fame is it’s a great thrower for a single battery body diameter which means it can easily be mounted to a rifle for night hunting using scope rings. K40M and TN35 which are the same light are more flood and less throw because of the led used. TN32 followed by the TN31 will out throw the 2X. Don’t have an SR51 or Javelot.
Quick lesson on throw. The larger the reflector the greater the throw assuming you are using the same led. The smaller the led the greater the throw. An XP-E will out throw an XM-L because the led is smaller.
Hi southland, thanks for the info. I am familiar with those aspects of the different lights. What I am specifically after is beam shots of the 2X in comparison with others in an outdoor setting. I know mgt2 won’t throw as far as an xml2 which won’t through as far an xpg2, and that perhaps the tn31 will out throw a 2X, but the 2X has a lot more useable spill i believe. With some comparisons I think I might be able to decide what will suit me in terms of price, performance, suitable applications etc.
This is not the Maxtoch you asked about, but the Maxtoch M24 Sniper model (Dedomed) that I took of mine. At 400 plus yards not a problem to see deer or similar sized animals.
My last M24 read 97.9k lux stock and with a dedomed U3 was 210k = 913 meters. Advantages - very light at 270gms, scope mountable, fits standard scope mounts, and great range plus spill. Will pick out bigger animals at 500 yards+ in perfect conditions.
Last 2X was 122k lux stock, and with a dedomed U3 read 298k lux = 1.1 kilometers. Advantage - terrific range, tight beam plus spill, fits standard mounts, but getting to top weight for a scope light at 440 gms.
Depends what you intend to use torch for and your budget. Thrunite TN32 an excellent light - twice the price of Maxtoch 2X, heavy at 650gms, great output at 240k lux = 979 meters.
