Hello, after posting this in the fake Cree awareness thread I deem it too important to allow the information possibly be buried in that long topic with the risk people might miss this valuable piece of gear (or getting something like it).
When buying online and the ever increase of non Cree LEDs put into flashlights anybody who is ordering should be able to proof that the receivd item is not as advertised.
When you got the gear to mae detailed pis, for example using a microscoop this thingy is not for you.
But for others this could ust be the piece of gear they need and it is affordable.
I make pictures with it and a screenshot of the CREE and LB comparison in the first post of the fake Cree awareness thread.
Using a paint like program have them all three visible and add some text to it pointing to the differences.
That makes it pretty clear.
Here is an example I used in a succesfull AliExpres dispute.
.
.
I use a clip on thingy for phones to make the pics of the leds (bought it for about $3.50 ~ $4 at AliExpress was worth every penny, since it allowed me to get roughtly $100 back from fake advertised flashlights)
.
It was even cheaper, now this is a worthy investment with several hundreds % profit
It has a twisty action light source (twisting in 1 direction gets white light, the other direction gives you blue/purple)
I guess The Miller will answer when he is ready. But, it looks like it is only a lens system. You could look through it, I guess, to see small details. But, he was talking about using it to get macro shots for upload purposes.
It is for a phone. The clip is kind of in the way if you want to use it stand alone.
But DX and AE have tons of “pocket microscopes” for little money that can be used without phone. I have one but I prefer this clipon since the image on the phone screen is easier to see then looking through a small opening so I would even recommend this over a non clip on thing.
I’ve been wanting a microscope for checking my work after I solder small smd packages. I thought maybe this would serve a dual purpose. But maybe it does anyway, just not in the way I was thinking. I always have my phone so like you said it might be easier to look at the screen. I wonder if you would lose some of the subtle 3D nuances when looking with the eye through a lens? I think I’m going to go ahead and order one regardless. Thanks for the suggestion!
And thanks Werner.
I just looked a bit closer and the clip can be unscrewed turning it into exactly the thing you link to!
So PPDB22 yes one can use it without a phone
Oh, my, suddenly I wonder if two of these could be made into a little stereo microscope camera, with 2 phones (oppositely oriented so the cameras are as close together as possible)
I just ordered one, I thought about ordering 2 but the price to buy 2 was more than double the price for one, the free shipping went away and it was $9.28.
Yes sometimes that happens, but when you order twice in a case like that often they arrive in the same package without the extra pay. (I once wanted 14 lightbulbs, price shot up at 8+ so ordered 2x7 and it came in 1 box.)
