Please correct me if I am wrong. In the light pictired below I am measuring the star at 20mm and the board at 19.
I don’t have that light. I’m not sure if anyone else here does either, so you may not get a definite answer.
However, those are both very common sizes for stars/MCPCB’s and drivers, so if that is what you measured then I would not question it.
If you are looking for replacements you could probably use 20mm for both and just sand the driver down a bit for a tight fit.
Always causing mischief Terry :confounded: Yea you are right its about that size its not the standard 17mm driver. What driver did you buy to replace it? I think a 20mm fits easy?

Maybe if you show a pic of the measurements? Without it I tend to trust a caliper so if yours says those sizes it should have them right?
Well I haven't yet, I emailed the guys at Mountain to get what they thought would be a good driver for that light and one other. Both soon and use pretty much the same electronics. Measurements are same for both. They emailed me back and suggested a quote board for the XM-L2.
I had measured in a hurry and said the board was 21mm. He was thinking it probably more like 17.
Lol I worked 39 hours in 3 nights this weekend. Just wanted to be sure I had measured correctly this morning.
I didn't see a qlite board on the website...
Yeah I used a caliper and a certified stainless ruler I use at work.
Thought I had lost my mind for a bit there. I am just starting to get into and learn these LED mods so naturally I will have plenty of questions.
But, I have been a mechanical technician for a very long time. Just making sure I had not lost my mind.
Yea RMM is on here Richard Mountain Electronics. I think a 20mm board will fit good? You can easily make it fit. I just measured my driver i pulled from the same light as yours. Its 20mm my battery is flat in the calipers and they are expensive cheaper to buy new calipers lol.

Yea that is a neutral tint it should look good. If you go direct drive with this light be careful because cooling is bad.

I’m hoping for decent to great output. Only need 3 basic modes. High medium and either low or strobe.
It measures almost dead on 19mm so getting a 20 in should not be too hard.
I feel comfortable with soldering and install but, these will be my first board and light swaps.
Worked last night so I need a nap. I do hope to get my order placed either later tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

I would not do a FET+1 driver in that host. I don’t think it would handle the heat well.
The “105E 20mm” driver you linked should be perfect. I would have suggested that first if I had seen it when I looked. 3amps will give great output.
NLITE or Guppydrv would probably suit you, or choose STAR and tell Richard what modes you want in your order comments.
So order it as it is? Don't add or remove any 7135?
Order placed. I ordered 3 of each, CREE XM-L2 U3 3A LED on Noctigon 20mm MCPCB and,105E 20mm 7135*8 3.04A LED DRIVER.
Not sure how long it will take. Really doesn't matter, if you divide my total by 3 it comes out to about $13.46 for each light and driver. I am putting them into clones that I paid very little for. Total will be about $20.00 for each flashlight. Good throwers as is, can't wait to see what they will do with real XML's and much better drivers...

Hey.... I totally forgot to ask about heat shielding or thermal past. These are going to create a bit more heat than what the Latticebright clones do.
