A small but very powerful flashlight?

Hi, I’m a bit new to flashlights, but I like beautiful things and beautiful flashlights.
Is there a small flashlight, about 10-11 cm tall, with white light (not cold), that’s very powerful and has a long beam?
Thanks for the valuable info.

Convoy S6 with SFT40 3000K LED. If you want it to be shorter, you can use a short tube with 18350 battery with it:

I thank you, I will seriously consider what you said. I already have an old EDC18 Luminontop that I love very much. It has 2000 lumens. Maybe the one you recommended doesn’t have many more lumens? I don’t know what to do. Maybe it’s better to choose a slightly longer flashlight?
I noticed PHIXTON 1000000 lumens, but I think it is too much big. I will use it in my trips in Africa.
Thanks again.

The Phixton does not have 1000000 lumens, they’re lying. Also, the Lumitop EDC 18 is a triple so it’s going to be floody, the S6 will throw a lot further.

“the Lumitop EDC 18 is a triple so it’s going to be floody, the S6 will throw a lot further.”
I apologize for my inexperience, but I would like to better understand what you wrote to me. What do you mean?
But Convoy S6, how many lumens does it have.
Then … Im noticing it is 3000K, is it not too hot?
Thanks again.

Another Convoy recommendation here. Lots of alternatives, battery types, and emitter choices at fantastic prices. A excellent avenue to test and evaluate emitter choices without spending exorbitantly.

Personally I like the Wuben E6 and Convoy T3 when looking for easily pocketable reach , throw and common battery availability.

The ratio of optic diameter to light emitting area determines how focused the light beam can be. Lumens per angle (candela) determine how far you can see. Many lights advertise a throw distance in meters, which is calculated from candela. To see far away, you want a more candela, which is more easily achieved with a more focused beam than with more lumens.

The standard throw calculation based on the FL1 standard is about the distance at which you’ll be able to spot large objects that contrast with their background. You’ll see clearly about half as far. Things will appear well lit at about a quarter of the FL1 throw distance.

A Convoy S6 can be configured with many different combinations of LED and driver - so many that some have probably never been assembled, as they’re build-to-order lights. That’s why you won’t find performance numbers advertised. Here’s a review of that configuration. Its 249m of FL1 throw is more than the 200m of the EDC18 with XP-L HI, but not what most of us flashlight nerds would call “very powerful” or “a long beam”.

I recently reviewed the Skilhunt EC500 with the same LED and measured 739m FL1 throw, which is getting closer to “a long beam”, but there are still tradeoffs involved. The SFT40 in 3000K trades a lot of efficiency to produce light that looks similar to an incandescent bulb and renders colors extremely well. This warm color temperature cuts through haze and fog fairly well with little backscatter, and its high color rendering index (CRI) can help spot details that blend in with their backgrounds.

The SFT40 in 5000K produces considerably more light with the same electrical power, but renders colors poorly, though some other LEDs in higher color temperatures render colors well - tying CRI to color temperature is a quirk of the SFT40.

How wide can the head of the flashlight be? The wider the head, the more potential it has to be effective at long distance.

Wowww, it is a good reply. Thanks.
I like a long beam.
Out of curiosity:
do you like more Sofirn IF22A or Skilhunt EC500?
Or … do you suggest some other small flashlight?

EC500 is definitely not small, OP is lookins for something max. 1100m long and EC500 is 140mm long and has a large head. Noone is pushing for high CRI either, Luminus 3000K emitters have nice tint but they’re very warm (orange-yellow, not white) and pretty inefficient. I think 5000K variant will do just fine.

Small lights aren’t usually very bright because they can’t take the heat, if they’re driver hard (like Lumintop EDC 18) they can maintain max brightness for maybe 60 seconds. Second - they have small reflector so if you want more throw you need to use smaller emitter and small emiters are generally less bright. If you can accept 116mm length - Convoy S21E with SFT40 5000K and Anduril driver. 123mm long - Convoy S8 with the same emitter (SFt40 5000K) and 8amp buck driver. S21E is slightly thicker/wider but it has a larger battery and it’s available in differet colors.

It’s a great thrower but at 6500K it’s a very cold white light.

I don’t have an IF22A, but looking at this review, we can see that brightness decreases over time in every mode, while the EC500 maintains constant brightness in all modes but the highest, which is time-limited to prevent overheating. I do not like brightness to decrease over time, so I like the EC500 better.

I’d put both lights in the category of “intermediate thrower”. There are quite a few options in the category, but many, including both the IF22A and EC500 are longer than 11cm, and they have fairly wide heads.

Is 11cm a strict limit? Is a wide head a problem? How far do you want to see?

EC500 maintains about 700lm in high mode while being the largest flashlight mentioned in this thread. There’s basically no flashlight on the market that can sustain tubo mode.

OP seems to be shopping for a thrower, so how much throw the light can sustain rather than how many lumens is likely more relevant.

I’m not trying to advocate for the EC500 (yet); I’m using it as an example of how a larger head results in a more focused beam than the Convoy S6 with the same LED, which was suggested in the first reply. None of us can really give good recommendations until OP answers my questions about size and throw distance.

Do you want a warm light (similar to the old incandescent type around 3000K) or a neutral white around 5000K?

The most throw (distance) you can get with the narrow S6 body is with the CSLNM1.TG LED, see this comparison:

If you want more throw than in this video you need a reflector/head with wider diameter, like the Skilhunt EC500 or Convoy C8+.

M1 may have the highest candela but it lacks when it comes to brightness. With SFT40 being really close behind while producing way more lumens I think it’s worth the tradeoff.

OP seems to be shopping for a very small flashlight, offering something much longer with a fairly large head defeats the point.

Here is my Convoy S6/8 with a 5000k SFT-40 in it. The bridge in the distance is about 367ft or 111 meters.

They are really impressive for the size. But for the OP I’d rather ecommend the S21E because with multiple colors available it ticks the “beautiful” mark, it also supports bigger battery (longer runtime) and USB charging.

That Phixton only gets 100000000lm when you buy their proprietary nuculer cold fusion cell, not the come-with 18650.

S21E is a very impressive flashlight, it is beautifull too. But I think Sofirn IF22A 2100 lumen is more powerful. Am I wrong?

IF22 doesn’t sustain that lumen output very well
