As a kid I got a “Magic Box”. A pair of scissors and a piece of glass were (obviously) not included, but it contained a booklet which described the under water cutting of glass. Those were the times. For a dollar (in Dutch currency) you could but two “state of the art plastic” flashlights. But parental advice prevented them from being used: those are for emergencies. By that time you could toss them in the trashcan because the batteries started a life of their own.
