Ok, I just finished up fixing my A60 this morning (early morning before sunrise). Checked tailcap currents and I'm getting 2.35A on high! (0.52A on low.) This was with a protected Tenergy 2600mAh @ 4.18v. I could get it as high as 2.50A if I pressed harder down on the battery, but I let up a little and then watched the amperage fall from about 2.40A down to 2.35A where it was fairly steady. Good thing I fixed the heatsinking!
Here's a few photos while I was tearing it apart and fixing it:
Emitter popped off the heatsink as received and paper "sticker" underneath:
Paper Sticker:
Sticker removed, surface annodized (painted):
Grinded/sanded heatsink surface for better thermal transfer (scuffed up in the process, but not visible when assembled):
Can accept a 20mm star, but the stock was 16mm (15.88mm):
Driver and emitter (emitter on a nice aluminum star):
Driver cavity:
Final mounting:
I noticed that the actual LED die (is that the right word for the yellowish "pad") is off center with the dome, almost like it was a "factory second" emitter. It still functions pretty good, but I do see a little bit of a dark spot in the hotspot. I only had a brief moment to try the light this morning. It's definitely a tight beam thrower, but it didn't wow me that much. I intend to compare it to my Dongrui All-920 very soon and will take some comparison beamshots. This A20 is definitely a better build though for only a few cents more.
Oh, and I didn't have to add any shim or anything. The focus still looks good. I tested focus by unscrewing the head and tightening it as I shined on a wall; when fully tightened it was a nice tight spot (albeit with the little dark spot off the side of the hotspot).
