On the Lacrosse or Powerex/Maha
has anyone tried to charge a ni or mh c or d cell in separate cradle using jumpers from the charger? Seems to me that from what i’ve read on these chargers they should be able to handle it.

I've heard of it; even seen photos of setups. I'm considering trying the same thing with my AccuPower IQ328. (I don't have NiMh C's or D's to test with right now.)

As far as I know it should work fine. Just be sure to put in the right capacity when you use the “analyze/refresh” mode.

Could be done with the Maha or Lacrosse, but remember with the added resistance from the added connecting wires and extra contacts for the C or D battery holder, there will be a drop of voltage at the battery itself. While I don't think the voltage drop would be enough to matter that much, it is still worth consideration.
I can't imagine how in the world it could hurt the charger though...
My lacrosse BC-700 maxes out at 3700 mAh of charge as a safety feature I think, so you’d probably have to unhook the battery and reconnect it a couple times if you have high capacity cells.
couldn’t find any capacity specs on the accupower. lacrosse is listed @ 3000mah, powerex listed @ 20,000 mah, which should be fine
Here are the specs onthe AccuPower IQ-328 Charger. Looks like it’s good for 3500 mAh total cell capacity. Looks like the Maha Powerex C9000 is the best option.
Oh my, didnt know that my C9000 supports up to 20A batteries, good to know :D!
Somehow I had the impression that its good for only up to 3A batteries!

As for your original question, cheaplite, I believe it should work just fine, as long as you maintain good contact between cables of craddle and +/- on charger.
How about using magnets, that should give you perfect contact, right?
Or are you using some sort of other solution, can you post pics?
Im asking because some day I might get myself some D NiMh’s so Im curious about solutions to charge D cells :)!

The craddle you posted has pretty poor wires, not sure how much will that add to resistance etc, I have some of similar AA craddles, they are fine for the money, but nothing spectacular when it comes to wires, they are very thin.
Perhaps better wires+magnets=WIN?
Yeah, I would at least re-wire it, perhaps even replace the cradles spring & contacts with copper?
