I am looking for a small red light flashlight for getting to my tree stand without freaking out the deer! I’m do not need (or want) much for lumen, the 13 lumen from my Nitecore NU25 are usually plenty.
Thanks for the help.

The Maglite Solitaire keychain light should meet those requirements. Comes in several different color outputs.

Sofirn C01 red?

I think he meant the output (light) was red.
Edit: Sorry, I see you can get a red emitter.
Both choices look like what I need. If I can find the Maglite locally I will go that way. If not I’ll order two of the Sofirm lights. Does Sofirm make decent lights? I have never owned one of these.
Thanks Guys
My stepson and his lease members all use Green Light —- I modded a bunch of Tool AAA lights for them — I want to say 4-18- 45 Lumen if I remember correctly — I also did a bunch of Green AAA head lights — they prefer the headlights — that way both hands are free

Check out the Sofirn C01R. It runs on a single AAA and emits a pure, rich, deep red light. It won’t look super bright under regular lighting but only because deep red is at the edge of the visible spectrum. I’ve found it very effective when turning on from darkness, such as in the woods at night. It has a low and a high setting, with low being fine for “moonlight” tasks and high being respectable for a light that size. Deep red is particularly good for not disrupting your night vision.
Sofirn makes excellent lights in general. I’ve been using them for years. A couple of years ago, I got everyone in my extended family a Sofirn C01S. (It’s the regular AAA model comparable to the C01R.) Most of those people still have them on their key rings. My brother actually runs a C01R on his key ring full time. I’ve been using an original C01 for years without issue. If you aren’t already using Eneloops for your AA and AAA needs, the quality of life upgrade is absolutely worth it.
One to consider would be the Wurkkos WK30. It’s got red, but it’s also got white and UV. So you can use the red the way you want, but you got assloads of runtime in the bigger form-factor and have a nice high-CRI white for general-purpose use, too.

I’ve talked a few amateur astronomers into getting the C01R deep red. I have one tethered to my telescope and one in my pocket.
Discussions about rods and cones aside, it’s a slick little light. Runs almost 60 hours on low, which is the important metric in my opinion.
The C01R is a great little light, unfortunately they discontinued them and we haven’t been able to get sofirn to make any more. My kids keep them under their pillows and use them for bathroom trips during the night. If we could get sofirn to make them I would gladly buy a few more.
