Acebeam E70 clip removal

Does anyone know how to remove the screws holding the Acebeam E70 clip on? A 1.5 mm Allen key worked on one, but slips on the other. In fact it slips a bit on the first one too, but still managed to free it.

I’ve read that they need a 1.5 mm Allan key, so maybe mine is poor quality i.e. slightly undersized.

Try using the red SAE set. might be able to get it with that.

Thanks but what does that mean? Is that a brand or standard for Allen keys or something?

Don’t muck about with Allen keys, you’ll scrub the screws. They’re Torx.

Grab one of these. Handy for knives, one of my most used tools. This is a good price on Amazon, they’re usually £20+.

This is my combo…
screwdriver: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000E62NHS
bit set: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AYVJDI
The screwdriver is no longer available on Amazon.
(There are similar ones to choose from.)
The 100-piece bit set is well-made, though I don’t know if it’s available in the U.K.
Also, I’ll never use most of the 100 pieces, but hopefully I’ll never have to buy another bit set again. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you. :+1:t2: I have loads of screwdriver bits including torx but evidently not the right one. Such is life. I will pick up a better set.

I’m sure I can find the same kind of set, they’ll all made in the people’s popular democratic republic of China, definitely no genocide or slave labour, noo sirree. :slightly_smiling_face:

The Wiha set, and Wiha in general are well regarded for quality. My identical stubby bit set is branded Boker, and was sold specifically with knife dismantling in mind.

It’ll be a T6 for that screw, it’s probably the same as the Acebeam E75, and a very common size.

The “cheap” Wiha set I bought was made in Vietnam, for whatever that’s worth.

Wera are made in the Czech Republic and Germany.

E75 uses T5 screws for their pocket clip. Hope this info helps.

Thank you, unfortunately these seem to be neither T6 not T5. The T6 slips, I’ve tried one I had, and one I bought today.

T8 seems to fit mine. T5 and T6 are both too loose.

Noted. Probably different screw type being used?

None of them fit my E70. Looks to be between T6 and T7. I emailed Acebeam.

Torx Plus

Weird, as mine is a perfect T6 fit.

I don’t think it would be, it’s an odd application for Torx Plus, they’re for really securing things tight without slip.

Yeah, I don’t think torx plus even goes that small.

I heard back from Acebeam customer support. T6 for the E70-Al, T8 for the E70-Ti titanium. There must be something wrong with the socket on one screw because T6 slips. I am reluctant to mess about for fear of damaging the screws. They should reqlly include a small key with the light, Jetbeam do that with the RRT-01, the cost would be minimal.
