Acebeam L30 II - Early thoughts?

Acebeam lists a new version of the L30 on their website - the L30 II. According to the german TLF and from what I see, the only thing they changed is, that it now also accepts 21700 batteries.
I think that is a good change, but I really would have liked to see some further upgrades to justify the new version.
A power bank feature would have been nice and they wouldn’t have had to make changes to the body - they already have the USB port for that.

Thoughts about it? I actually wanted to buy the L30 Gen. 1 when I found out that they came out with the 2.

I bought the L30 GEN I when it was available, but a few weeks ago I found that GEN II on their official website. So I mailed them to know if it would be possible to buy a 21700 body tube only. However their answer was a bit disappointing: the new 21700 body would be incompatible with the old L30 GEN I. And of course I’m not going to buy the GEN II…no reason to do so.

Interesting and good to know - I don’t have the L30 Gen 1, but do you think it would be possible to sand or mill the inside of the Gen 1 tube to be able to make 21700 work? If so, making the Gen 2 tube incompatible to use with the Gen 1 body is… not a nice move.
They didn’t change the outer diameter measurement of the body - still 25.4mm (1 inch?). So either the inner tube or the outer wall mist bo thannor or they forgot to update the diameter(?)

The L30 has a double layered battery tube, the inner layer being very thin and designed just for electrical contact, so sanding wouldn’t be possible.

However the included 20700 performs well and I get decent runtimes.

Yes, I agree, sanding seems not possible due to the thin layer inside. However I still would like to have a 21700 tube, since this size format is adopted by more and more cell manufacturers. Now there are more and more decent 5000mAh 21700 choices (LG M50, Samsung 50E, Sony 21700VC7) and that cheap but still good 4000mAh LISHEN 21700; but when it comes to a high capacity 20700, NCR20700B seems the only choice.

1mm difference in diameter is almost negligible, so 21700 is more favorable to me, after all.
