Sure, I could have chosen for insurance, but Acebeam requested me to note 10 USD as value on the package. So I would only have gotten 10 USD back. Only difference with tracking ID would have been that I had known where the package went missing.

The head of a flashlight is probably 80% of the total coast, so why would they instruct you to only insure it for $10?

It would have been a repair job and I highly doubt they would been charged any tax as a manufacturer.

I don’t know why Acebeam required this. I think to avoid any mistakes at customs and be charged after all.

It makes no sense for a maker of lights to ask to set a low value, that just shows they try to cheat chinese customs or something who knows… either way its a very bad move from them how they handle all this… really overpriced lights nothing else.

I’m out of luck here. My second Acebeam X45 has also stopped working properly. I can’t cycle through the modes anymore. I’ve contacted Acebeam, but no repy for I believe 2 weeks now. I’m not sure, maybe they are unable to get to work there because of the Corona virus.

Would be happy to hear if anyone has advice here.

wow second? quess acebeams quality is not worth their price on highend flashlights… but now its the Corona virus thing in asia so expect things to standstill not sure if many factories are open now or closed depending regions etc….

There is probably no free solution i would change the driver.

Lexel said he was making a driver for this light.

If you go through the hassle and get a new head and it breaks again whats the point? You just wasted more money on shipping and waiting time.

I think that Acebeam will offer me to send the light back to China. This will cost me about 25 EUR. Then, if all goes well,it will be send back to me again, after repair or replacement. And I will be charged import duties again, about 50 EUR.

So in total, pay 75 EUR to have a working light again. Or, just let this go and accept that I paid quite a lot and end up without any working X45.

There are probably enough members willing to help to repair it for you. (If its just the driver you can do it yourself, otherwise i am willing to do it)
The thing is, it will cost money for parts and shipping.

Probably a Lexel driver will be better than the Acebeam one, since this is already your second one that fails.

Good information. I purchased the X45 a couple of months ago on Amazon at 215 dollars. Its been fine so fare but its good to know I can get a driver from Lexel if needed. Sorry to hear your Acebeam crapped out on you RonNL. I am definitely interested in the, soon available X45 3x Buck 15A driver with BLF firmware from Lexel.

The output will be slightly more and a bridged carrier and VTC6 or 5A are good to sustain max. output over a wide range of the battery charge

driver shipped is about 37.5$ untracked and 40$ tracked worldwide

Usually when you send something back to China you can file some export papers that make importing the repaired light duty free or at least you can get the payed tax back

I have an Acebeam X45 II, I’ve had the problem OP had but I seem to solve it by breaking and making contact with the batteries again. I’m interested in these boards, do they increase output? I’m interested as I use it for cave photos, thanks.

Finally I’m back in contact with a sales representative of Acebeam, just it’s going very slow. Haven’t heard them yet about how they are going to solve the issue for me.

I think that next time I’ll pick another brand of flashlight, this is not a good experience at all.

In my opinion this is a low quality product and a low quality support experience. I can’t rely on an Acebeam flashlight to give me light in the dark. And I can’t rely on the Acebeam support team to help me out when their products fail.

If someone wants to have the second defective X45, send me a private message and I’ll send it to you, on condition that you cover the shipping yourself.

If some one takes the light of him maybe send a different light back seeing as the Acebeam cost him like 400+ USD between the two he had?

It could be some thing as simple as the switch?
