today started off real bad…. the contact board on my keygos m10 4a ramping driver broke off and i just made it worse trying to resolder it… ordered another one…
then i took apart my defiant 3c… all was going well… got the xml2 on the sink pad and mounted… only to have the buck driver fall apart in my hands when i took it out of the bag… seriously… wth… there goes $17 (I am not impressed with the quality of the components and drivers from intl outdoor)
i took a lunch break and then went on to a different ongoing project
I managed to find a maelstrom x10 in a local pawn shop for $40… it didnt turn on and the tail cap was heavily warn… looks like it had a rifle attached to it and quite a lot of use (the guy tried to sell me the rifle too, but it was a piece of junk)… after some testing i determined that the switch was no good. I contacted four sevens and explained to them what was going on and they were nice enough to send me a NEW tailcap/switch assembly for just the cost of shipping
the rest of the host is in pretty decent shape…
I already wanted to put an XPG2 into this thing and it just so happens I have 3 cool white xpg 2s sitting in my hobby drawer… i did some digging and i found a few 7135 drivers from other projects and teardowns… a 3.04a a 1.4a and a 2.2a one… I decided to use the 2.2 until i get a sink pad for xpg2
I slapped it together this week and got quite frustrated getting the xpg2 to focus in the XML reflector…
after some minor… and then some not so minor dremeling with my proxxon rotary tool and modification of the led gasket i finally got it to focus… i measured 51k lux from this little thing! keeps up with my XML2 HD2010!
i really think this thing needs 3.6-4 amps but all of my funds are set aside for the fire foxes 4 right now (and SL3 group buy)
back onto the shelf it goes… either to be finished next month or traded away for other parts to fix my screw ups from this morning LOL
