If every chinese person buys a share it will be the biggest.

Could be a second chance for flashaholic investors who missed the boat back in 2011 when Cree was at $22 and went to $62 in 2013.
I got 75% out when Cree hit my strike price of $59.50 and consider the remaining 25% as long term hold.

Alibaba is a good company. After the team’s efforts, make the impossible possible.
wishes alibaba the best of luck for the future.

Some people may invest in it, but in my opinion it will not grow to the size expected due to poor Chinese business ethics. Us Budgeteers don’t mind their fakes and such but average consumer will avoid it when people start talking about the deceptions.

You might want to research what successful speculators and economists have to say about Alibaba and have an understanding of what it advertises before posting. To quite the contrary, I think it will far exceed all expectations. The poor business decisions of ebay (and others) didnt take advantage of this opportunity and now its to late. Alibaba caters to high volume trading with an escrow account gaurantee and a seller rating system, not the junky single pcs flashlight and cheap charger we often see frugal people on this forum haggle over. Given that most items are now manufactured in China (many of them guaranteed by ISO certifications and the like), the climate for additional industrial growth potential and distribution still have a long way to go before it peaks. In 10 years, at least one in every 4 automobiles will be manufactured in China. Its also said that China will be THE place to live within the next 10 years if you desire a high standard of living.

I am chinese,I think so.
But it’s a pity that we can’t buy the good stock(baidu, alibaba, etc…).
Our stock market is terrible. But I think the things will get better.
beacause ,I am chinese.I wish my country more and more well.

I see problems for them in the US. They will the be the target of lawsuits from the lawful owners of technology and intellectual property routinely sold on Alibaba.

Suing the chinese for anything related to copyright infringement or liability has always been far more of a joke than a threat. Their government acts concerned for show and makes small busts but does nothing to stop its large industry from breaking all the rules. Alibaba couldnt be in a better place on earth to help perpetuate copyright infringement through the clients it serves, all while remaining completely immune to prosecution. They have already proven this and are laughing all the way to the bank. Plus, they are about to expand exponentially. Perhaps non Chinese companies need to take a different approach, rather than investing billions in trying to sue for copyright infringement with little to no success. Just ask Bill Gates how the Chinese tore him a new anus when he tried to recoup billions of dollars in lost revenues; when he complained that nearly 100% of all microsoft products are redistributed and sold on bootleged media with all licensing hacked from the software. Id imagine that any Chinese businessman will grin and laugh at the mention of Bills name. I know I certainly do.

The vast, vast majority of US consumers will be skeptical of a Chinese eBay because they are already skeptical of Chinese anything in general. It doesn’t matter that so many goods are made there - the negative perceptions of Chinese anything will be a barrier to consumer adoption of it as a trading platform. The IPO might do well - I’m not talking about the businessman view of it. Just saying the frequent and pervasive fraud perpetuated (and allowed to be perpetuated) will only add to the existing fears. In fact, I see it adding to eBays business as most would buy the same items from a Chinese vendor on eBay as they trust it over a Chinese version where both the platform and vendors will be suspect.

Well you can bet those billions won’t be given away by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is doing right now.

Good points, already there are sellers of the same items shipping from the US on eBay. Might be a little more competition for WalMart and Amazon.
