I recently had two rather nice watches from AliExpress go missing after they reached the courier in England. Fortunately AE refunded the money, perhaps because I have a good history given that I’ve spend a few hundred pounds with them over the past six months. Does anyone know how AE deal with this? Do they insure parcels in transit? Do they sometimes refuse a refund?
My concern is that I cannot trust the local courier, so I am now hesitant to buy from AE, other than the odd item. If another parcel is lost, I’m not convinced AE will refund the price. I’m now buying items individually, to reduce the potential loss per parcel.
Background: skip if not interested.
The watches from AE reached England, but they were lost by the courier, Evri. I loathe Evri, they are a cut price outfit with a dreadful reputation who treat the couriers badly. In my own case the courier received the parcel on Saturday for delivery between 7 and 9 pm. But he delivered it on Sunday morning. Except he didn’t and Evri confirmed that he was nowhere near my house when the supposed delivery took place. I reckon he took it, having examined it overnight.
I’m based in Greater London area, Evri seems to be the delivery company for anything I’ve ordered from AliExpress, with the exception of a royal mail parcel I literally received today but forget which AliX order it corresponds to .
Luckily, I’ve a pretty good Evri driver for my area, I’ve not seen any evidence of anyone examining the contents and I’ve not yet had anything go missing.
Edit to add: the folding camping chair I ordered should be in this package, perhaps the size is why they sent with RM?
Second edit: I also got (the other half?) more AliExpress junk prized possessions via Evri today, he’s gone down in my estimation as he keeps refusing to use the parcel box I’ve installed and instead chooses to leave the parcel in the rain on the doorstep.
AliExpress used similar companies in Australia to do the final delivery. I nearly lost one parcel which was left at the wrong address, thankfully the company logged the Lat/Long for each delivery and gave that info to me. It was delivered two houses down the street, and I was able to retrieve it myself.
Lately, all the deliveries have been coming through Australia Post, so for some reason they’ve stopped using the cut price operators here.
I’m near Basingstoke, south of you. I forgot that I had given a nickname to the lost parcel. It was heroin! I had emails from customer support, I had no location data or photo with the delivery, but they confirmed the supposed delivery was nowhere newr my house. AliExpress refunded the money, £55, but it’s worrying in case it happens again they might say no.
A parcel arrived today, turns out the driver was the same one who nearly ran me over a week ago. I was walking along a narrow country lane, and a dark blue van hurtled round a blind bend and nearly hit me. I can’t prove it was him, but he’s always very nervous when he sees me now. 100m behind me was a dog walker with two dogs, had she been where I was, the dogs would have been killed.
