Up for sale are two (Now only One) 1D Maglites. Both of them are 3-ups. (3 LEDs). Both are run parallel and both are Direct Drive.
First light is a silver 1D. The cut down is one done by Chicago X. His work is very good. I put one of the MR16 household bulbs in this light. It's supposed to be 3x3 watt and I rewired it to Parallel. I added a copper heat sink in the bottom of the bulb casting and attached it to a regular aluminum heat sink. It is wired direct and runs on 3 NiMH AA batteries in a holder modified with copper contacts. It has a tail cap switch and a glass lens. There is some file work on the bezel and tail cap. It is not a bright light and it has blue tint, since it is a "cool white". It is what it is, if anyone wants it.
The second 1D is also a cut down by Chicago X. I put three XM-L T6 leds in the head and uses a stippled Maglite LED reflector. The XM-L leds are on 8mm stars and sit on a copper heat sink, that is screwed to an aluminum heat sink. This is also wired Parallel and is Direct Drive using 3 AA NiMH batteries. The holder is modified with copper contacts. It has a tail cap switch and has some file work on the light. I don't know the flavor of these leds. They look fairly white, but with no blue tint, so possibly in the 6000k range. This light is not very bright, considering it has 3 XM-Ls in it. I think it is because of direct drive. With DD, the leds only take the current they "want", instead of a driver pushing the current "it wants to send", to the leds. I feel it's about 1 to 1-1/2 amps going to each led. That's just my guess, so it's not much brighter than a single T6.
The holder is 60mm long and if your 32600 is 60mm long or less, then it will work, but if it is longer than 60mm, I don’t think it will work. The spring is already cut down and it’s tight now. 65mm will not work, 60mm would work, if that helps…
That blue one is super sexy! Too bad I blew all my money on Christmas sales and a bunch of leads and connectors and crap I needed(got a hobby charger for Christmas, spent more on things I needed for it than the thing costs )
One of these days, I will have an O-L light!
Is there any chance that I could mod the silver one to take an 18650 (say, 70mm max) by removing some of the MR16 unit? (I know they have a plastic bit on the back end…)
The Silver one is plenty long enough as is, to put a Li-ion in it. It has about 80mm+ room and the only thing that would be needed, would be to cut the spring shorter.
Well, thank you! I will ship them both on Monday, if I can find a sober USPS person around here. I should say our mail carrier is really nice… and she’s really hot too! LOL. Of course, the older I get, the more women I see as “Hot”
