I agree with you entirely. I come from being primarily and initially being a watch collector. That community has seen a major change in its views on such things over the last decade. It once was very dead set against any kind of mimicking. Now there’s an entire sub community dedicated to modding that even makes its own counterfeit dials, cases, etc to make not complete fakes, but extreme lookalikes known as homages. True fakes are still frowned upon in most circles, but homages have simply become the accepted redheaded step child of the industry. I feel like knives should and likely will go that route someday in the foreseeable future. I see absolutely nothing wrong with these Ganzo, Land, etc as they’re branded as such. That’s my line. They don’t infringe on any copyrights, so as long as they’re legal I’m good. I’ve been kicked out of forums and groups for that belief.
How long a warranty do they provide? If you provide them a full description of what you’re experiencing, you shouldn’t even have to pay to ship it in. RMA or something.
But even still, if it’s like $10 to send in and that’s all the cost will be, that’s not bad relative to a $400 knife value. Yet… if this is something you feel you can easily do yourself, then just do it and make yourself happy. I’ve done this with some things I’ve bought that had minor flaws and DIY fixing was easier, much quicker, and gave me confidence knowing exactly what was done.
Btw, check out Blade Forums and see what’s talked about there on CR knives. That brand has a big following over there.
For whatever reason I’d rather keep it and complain about it, out if spite. If i actually liked the knife i probably would do something about it myself, but i don’t. So it will collect dust in my collection box and never see the light of day again likely.
my 2 last received additions

the flavorist is very nice, even if i tried my best but still dont like front flippers

I bumped into this brand of knives (Sanrenmu) on Aliexpress and remembered reading about it here on BLF. I looked for the cheapest one available (just out of curiousity and no real need for it) and found this model; the 7030(-LUI-PH).
Yesterday I was curious how one (a Sanrenmu) with a metal handle would feel like and if I would like a ‘flipper’, since I haven’t tried one far. I found two which matched these criterias and were more or less the same price, but I could not decide which one to buy, so I ended up buying them both! ![]()
Sanrenmu does decent work, though the cheapness can be reflected in the their cheapest models. =P
BTW, they also do OEM work for Spyderco, Boker, Ruike, and Real Steel. They are a decent manufacturer and can do great things in the right circumstances.
Time to give this thread a bump…
I’ve got this inexpensive Nakiri knife coming in tomorrow…
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0713RMW1G

Hoping it feels light in use. Listed weight is 123g, which is significantly lighter than a typical Nakiri of this size, but still not as light as my cheap Thai Kiwi knives that I typically use.
Here’s a “Kershaw Blur” for $12 ![]()
For those that don’t know, this is NOT a Kershaw knife, despite being advertised as one.
It looks like a generic knife. ![]()
for french and maybe other european contry, we can’t order knife on aliex anymore
there is ok-knives for clones but i’m looking the “real” chinese brand knife and kitchen knife
there is some french ( tourangelle) and european website for ganzo and the “top” range SRM
i also looked at banggood
do you know other website ?
Hmm…
It looks bad for those in France.
no one to share some new (or not new ) website with some nice knife ?
i don’t think of a tricks to order from aliexpress, with a vpn you can see the item but the order will block when you will type your post adress
Yep, all gone, no knives shown anymore in Germany.
In the UK, delivery of bladed, and therefore age restricted, objects needs age verification.
I assume the Chinese sellers are using the cheapest delivery option available which will not include age verification, therefore parcels get destroyed/sent back and they’ve decided it’s not worth their while.
The UK Government is in consultation about bringing in licencing for knife importers and or sellers; I’m not sure what this will look like for foreign sellers, but I assume in the future, importing cheap knives from e.g China will be significantly more difficult.
Is there actually a problem with knife violence in the UK? Or is this simply something for legislators to do so people think they are doing something productive?
Both, though the crime is wildly hyped by the media, and therefore gives legislators something to get their teeth into to subdue the hysterical masses, and convince people that all knives are deadly weapons. Here, you can open a Swiss Army and have people gasp, it’s got ridiculous with the “That’s illegal!”
Most knife crime isn’t carried out by people shopping Chinese websites, but as mentioned, there’s no age check this end and the system is open to abuse.
I tried earching AliEx for knives and see there are serious restrictions in place (UK location). Searching ‘knife’ returns no results, nor camping, hunting, tactical etc. ‘Kitchen knife set’ returns some hits but not many.
I noticed the ‘Knife Issue’ on Aliexpress also a couple of weeks ago and was thinking about opening a topic to see if this is/was an issue for my country (The Netherlands) specifically or more of an EU issue in general and after reading about it in this topic, it appears to be the latter.
Not even the term ‘knife’ doesn’t turn up any results, but also searching specific brand names (like ‘Sitivien’, ‘Eafengrow’ or ‘Petrified Fish’) give no results. Also going through my previous purchases history of knives on AE, all the links to the listings are ‘dead’ and even clicking the links directly to the shops come up blank, but when I search those shops on Google, links to the shops still appear, suggesting that they’re still active, but just not possible to visit for me. I have tried to switch country they have to be shipped to and change the currency (to the USA and the :money_mouth_face:, also that didn’t make a change. I haven’t tried using a VPN though, to see if that makes a difference!
There are some “tricks” that do show up some results, like searching ‘Nife’ (without the ‘K’) which gives a few results (or at least did so last week) and that also shows some results for when looking like things as a ‘Nife Sharpener’, which doesn’t give (usefull) results when looking for a ‘Knife Sharpener’.
Sidenote:
I also noticed that the term ‘Katana’ also gives (almost) no results anymore, even not the separate/individual parts for Katanas (like the Tsuba, Habaki, Tsuka, Saya, etc.). Looking for those parts by their own/specific names does still give (some) results. (In the past I did order several of those parts to modify/customize a few of my Katanas.)
Luckily I ordered quite a few knives (early) last year from Aliexpress, so I’m currently not in an urgent need for new knives, but it does suck that it’s basicly impossible now to order some budget(friendly) knives with a ‘decent’ (or good enough) quality for their price. I just started to discover (the brand) Sitivien knives on AE last year and bought a couple of their knives for really attractive prices and in general was pleasantly surprised by what I got for those prices. Would have loved to try out a few more of their knives (in that price range).
