Grab the beast, great light.

Couldn't pass it up. I guess now I have to get some button-top high-drain batteries. Anyone have any luck using flat-top 30Qs with this Sofirn Q8? Any other battery recommendations?

VTC6s work in mine

Are they flat top? Thanks.

Yes, butt they are raised enough to make contact. Might lose momentary contact if bumped very hard on the bottom. My button top 30Qs can also if bumped hard.
I have no problems in either of my Q8s.

Just pulled the trigger on a set of button-top 30Qs from LiionWholesale. Thanks again for the input.

And you get a 18650 fan as a gift ( shipping work around )

BTs will work if squished down hard enough, but you gotta be careful.

Eg, if 1 cell makes contact but 3 don’t, the light will work on all modes, but if you turbo it, it’d try to draw full current through 1 cell and 1 spring, and Bad Thingsā„¢ might happen.

Mr Spring starts acting like Mr Fuse.

Why would it be any different then all the single cell FETDD driven quads and triples that are out there?

If you bypass ’em or whatever, no prob. But as I’m given to understand it, the Q8 at full tilt can suck down a few 10s of amps, and with just the stock springs, they heat up pretty nicely, and lose their springiness.

Throw in some nice low-Vf LEDs, and…

Yep I could see that with single springs that are not bypassed, have not seen it with double springs……yet…

Is Amazon charging sales tax for 3rd party sellers now? Looks like the party is over at least in my state (NJ). And just before the holidays…lame

Not in NY as of the 30th.

Ordered something today, got hit with tax, but it’s one of those Amazon Whatever Services, not a 3rd party.

i tried lumintop and olight direct, both being taxed now…but I also saw on slickdeals they were giving free shipping to non prime accounts, I think this new tax policy might be related

I’m being real selective when buying from Amazon NEWEGG Etc —In La. they passed laws where we are responsible for taxes— I’d rather pay as I go along than end up with a Huge tax bill
