Thanks Woody. I ordered one. I think its gonna be a high-value light for $20!

Yep either one is worth it I think. Bought one just for a gift

The 3D moon globe light deal is back. I ordered the 7.1ā€ version for my niece. She totally loves it. The smaller 4.7 and 5.9 inch ones are now on discount. The 4.7 is $19 minus a 30% discount. The 5.9 is $27 minus a 50% discount. For both that works out to about $13.50. LINK.

Just got those usb blubs today. Pretty nice for the bux.

I was under the impression it was l/m/h, but it’s actually ramping. Typische nasty linear ramping that uselessly zips through the low end and lingers forever on the high end.

That said, it’s a decent enough yellow like 2700K. Zero visible pwm even at its lowest. Did the shake back’n’forth and no ā€œdotted lineā€ effect, so…

All the filament sticks are in parallel, but I’m curious what’s the voltage needed to power ’em. Might be a boost regulator, as I kinda doubt all the ā€œinternalā€ LEDs are in parallel in each stick. Might be wrong, but it’s certainly interesting.

Oh! It has memory only while powered. Ramp down to minimum, turn off, on, off, on, etc., and it’ll remember. Unplug, replug, it turns on full brightness.

Great — thanks for reporting on this, LB. Yeah, would’ve been nicer for it to start off on medium and allow you ramping in either direction. So it starts on high and ramping is just down from there, eh? Good that there’s memory. That would be a BEAR without it. I have a USB powered LED strip that I got a few years ago that has 3 tints and 8 brightness levels, but the damn thing has no memory. Always starts on cold tint and medium brightness. Eventually had enough and replaced it with one having an on-board rechargeable battery and full memory (tint and brightness).

I have it’s brother, the model A1 and it is built like a Brick Sheethouse.
Gave one to my friend Jimmy who works at a Boiler Repair shop and he is hell on wheels as far as using/abusing stuff, told him ā€œHere see if you can kill this oneā€ and as of last month it’s been a year and he says it’s still going strong.
They are not the brightest light in the house but function very well and simple to operate.
Enjoy,
Keith

The pecans taste fine in my cereal.

The pecans aren't the best in the world, but they're cheap and they're good enough for me.

Something like this, I’m okay with start-on-high if its memory is only volatile and not non-volatile. Latter would be needlessly expensive, even if only pennies, when it’s probably assumed it’d be kept plugged in and ā€œarmed’ anyway.

On first powering, it doesn’t automatically turn on, and you have to bap the button to do so, so that right there tells me it’s assumed it’d be kept powered, even if off.

And people would likely be more pist with ā€œIs that as bright as it gets??ā€ if it’d automatically turn on in anything but 100%.

So the pieces kinda fit together, and I’m okay with it.

It’s the linear ramping that bugs me. I’d be happier with l/m/h, frankly.

I seriously read this as ā€œThe pelicans taste fine in my cereal.ā€ Perhaps I should read more slowly…or get a new brain.
