I have some quads but nothing with this much output. Is this light a near clone of another? I’m looking to compare the Yemao with lights in the discounted price range but at or near the same output.

Capacity-just so people know. One of the Amazon reviewers using a Liitokala 500. I have 2. They perform fine.

These are NOT 2800 mah capacity as advertised. They are 1900-2000 mah. Just tested 12 of the 24 pack, every single one tests at 2000 (+/- a few mah). ot 2800, they’re actually 2000 mah. Every one of them.

In addition they are advertised as high capacity. Hi caps NEVER have the same cycle live as more standard ones. Even Eneloop Pro makes that clear by only claiming 500 cycles.

Since I have all the eneloops I need I have started buying some of the super deals on lessor batteries as deep storage for emergencies.

I bought these 24 AAs for $11.00 for storage and not actual use, should I just put them away as they come, or do a break-in and then put them away, or charge them, and then put them away?

The El Cheapos never test at said capacity. I also find that they have more self discharge than name brand cells. Other than Eneloops, I get good results from Tenergy Premium batteries ( reasonably priced ), but I’m a sucker for these super deals :grin:

Piss’n’moan directly to the mfr about testing all the cells and having them all come up short.

They might make an offer to shut you up: partial refund, extra pack of cells, or who knows, even a full refund.

I needed high brightness blubs, and anything over “60W” has pretty much been exactly half that. “300W” equivalent with 40W real power only draws 20W or so, so half the claimed brightness, too. I measure it, p&m to the mfr, and they always cut me some deal to shut me up, usually a partial/full refund.

I could still use the bulbs elsewhere, so I’m like, “really? great, thanks!”, and take the deal.

They know they’re selling (or cell-ing, haha) lower-spec merch. Capitalise on it.

I get that. I’m also happy to try out cheaper models. I just wanted people to be clear what they are probably getting in to. I don’t have THAT model, but I have similar (EBL 2800), and my opinions are based on that experience. The experience has been pretty consistent. I won’t buy hi-cap NiMh anymore unless I absolutely NEED that little extra.
I’d charge and test them for capacity if you have that capability. You can get defective batteries.
Mark 'em. I use light colored painters tape strips and a fine Sharpie.

For long term storage I’d be aware they are not Eneloops. They WILL discharge quicker. How much is your experiment to do.
I suggest you test, charge, and put them away and then re-test in 6 months. I would not go longer than a year to start. From that you may get a sense of how rapidly they discharge.
If they are for emergencies you want them to function when you need them.

perhaps good for replacing the super crappy AA NiMH in many solar pathway lanterns? In high sun areas, it could extend the runtimes substantially (3-4 times) for a total runtime of over 40 hours, complete with intermittent solar charging

I’m also picking up some cheap chargers that charge big batches of batteries at one.

I have my core eneloops and quality 4 bay chargers and charge all my AA,AAA,C, and D, batteries twice a year before the special American days of July 4th and Christmas (terror attack target dates) but once a year I can run my off brand batteries through my 16 bay off brand chargers so that I am flush with emergency batteries for lanterns, Walkman’s, clocks, outdoor temp sensors, flashlights, etc. at little additional cost, and let’s face it, part of the situation is just an excuse to buy more batteries and chargers because they are on sale.
Part of being a prepper for a guy is buying stuff he likes, lanterns, camp stoves, an extra sleeping bag he doesn’t need, more ammo he doesn’t need.

Even Eneloop high capacity batteries, in my experience don’t last much more than the cheapos. So I stick to the LSD Eneloops and for reliability at a later time, definitely AA or CR123 primary cells.

I have some original eneloops that are still going strong at ~20 years old. They’ve lost about 25% capacity but can still hold a 3A discharge.

Depends on how many cycles you put them through, how far you discharge them, how hard you discharge them etc, and how you charge them even.

On the other hand some of the circa 2010 Chinese made LSD cells have failed after a couple years in the same environment. So just my personal anecdote but I’d say overall YMMV.

I have tried at least 8 different kinds of AA rechargeable. Including some of the expensive ones like Imedion (Maha).
Most have ended up being recycled. My Eneloops just keep on going.

No idea. I didnt sift through the reviews. I also did not buy but it carted right.

I looked but didn’t see it, they would be nice if they take a AAA or AA.
