Is this the same brand?
I have a Thorfire VG-10S and it looks identical to the AMUTORCH VG-10
Nop, it is not!
The VG10 is a model that many brands “adopted” some years ago!
Amutorch is the once known “Shadow” brand.
Thorfire is a different brand, that is more related to Sofirn, even if they weren’t necessarily the same brand.
Currently, Thorfire seems to have stopped putting out new lights.
It is - for me - inconclusive if they became the same brand of if they are in some commercial hiatus.
And BTW, the thorfire VG10S is probably different from the Amutorh VG10, namely on the driver + retaining ring part (that the amutorch doesn’t have, being a “pressed” driver with a brass contact ring) 
I have so many ThorFires, always wondered what happened to them. Thanks for the additional information.
I paid $15 for the Thorfire VG-10S, needless to say I bought more than what I needed.
Great light, very under-rated.
They become Sofirn or something along the line. 
Still great prices and quality.

I think that it boils down to the questions “who manufactures what” and “who owns what”.
That can be difficult in a culture where intellectual property is an area of “fifty shades of grey”.
To name an example: I once owned a Thorfire JM07, which was a rebadged Shadow JM07.
At that time I heard that (the then “new”) Thorfire might be a manufacturer for Shadow.
And I remember a Thorfire employee claiming they were manufacturer of the (BLF) Eagle Eye.
Maybe we will never know. “Fifty shades of gray” may very well stay “Pitch Black”.
You are not implying that a Chinese company copied another Chinese company? LOL
Agreed. Bought 4 of them when Amazon had them on sale for some similar price. They have been taking a beating for a few years now and don’t seem to be dying anytime soon. Besides the Q8 it is my favorite Thorfire light.
Bah. The original VG10 (even with the washer/spacer flasco) was a better light than the ’S. Better color, better UI, pretty much better in all things except a modest kick in output with the ’S.
Amutorch is here… And we are different with Thorfire
