Ancient Victorinox 2AA Twisty

The batteries leaked. I got them out, cleaned everything up, new batteries in and the light turns on, about moonlight is all I get.

Is there a drop in solution to making this light work again? I’d be happy with 1 mode (the way it was new) and 200+lm?

I am mechanical and can probably accomplish some alterations by die-grinding if needed.

Subscribed. Nothing to offer at the moment. I am sure someone will be along soon with some great solutions.

I’d like to see a photo of the light or a link.

Did you use the red Deoxit D100 when you cleaned it or vinegar?

Neither, brake cleaner and Scotch Brite.
Should have some pictures and internal dimensions soon.

Alkaleaks ooze KOH when they do what they do best (ie, leak), so once that dries out into a salt-block, you gotta treat it as such. Soaking in AcOH (vinegar) is what I usually do, at least as far as the tube and springs. Don’t soak the electronical parts.

Sometimes it’ll take a complete disassembly to see if anything got into the internals. Corrosion on springs and the tube and any other contact areas would need to be scrubbed clean, etc., before it could work right.

I just wiped and sprayed the PCB, etc. It was not too corroded. The spring loaded center pin was locked up tight but got it apart and as you can see the spring and everything apparently cleaned up well.

No spring at the tail end and don’t think it unscrews.
