Android wifi question

In my never ending quest to maximize my Nexus 4 battery life (still have not found a way to maintain at 60% while plugged in) i had turned off wifi while asleep, but i need it on now because of a texting by wifi app i use. However when i am asleep i turn the ringer off (usually to priority) and would like to automatically tun the wifi off during those hours since it just eats battery (standby of the phone drops from about 10 day to 2 days wit wifi always on).
I can’t seem to find an app that does this, i typically avoid paid apps though

I use NFC stickers for this purpose. One in my car, one in my office, one near my bed.

NFC connect on android does all of these things.

Tasker?

Are you looking to just have wifi turn off automatically at a set time? If so, your google-fu is really poor. I’ve seen lots of apps for that. Search “wifi time” or “wifi schedule” in the play store. You will see a ton of free options.

Are you rooted?

cool, i have never heard of these, where does one get them super cheap?

not at a set time, since that changes daily, but with me setting the phone to priority or no interruptions
not rooted but not locked to any provider, i bought it from google directly

You can get a bunch of nfc tags from ebay cheap. Do not buy Mifare Classic, it won’t work with your phone. NTAG203, Topaz 512, NTAG213, NTAG215, NTAG216 are some that will work.

have you checked battery saving apps?
Usually one can configure what to switch off when it is enabled and enabling normally is very easy with 1 slide and 1 tab.

i have not, are there any you recommend?

Have you looked into your power supply and cables ?

Reason I ask, I just got a Xtar USB Detector. On one cable I was only charging a Verizon table at .20 ma. 1 amp power supply . Switched cables and got .8 ma. Switched around power supplies and got 1amp.

One in the car wouldn’t let me use gps for much over an hour before phone died.

I have no charging problems, i am trying to reduce battery usage

Sorry my phone came with one installed. Access via setting battery

For a free option you can use condi to create a shortcut to disable wifi and silence calls that don’t match a whitelist.

I think Chadvone is addressing where you say “still have not found a way to maintain at 60% while plugged in”. Separate from your question about priorty mode + wifi off.

And I have to agree, you should verify the current and voltage. Even when using your device, your charge % should still be going up, of course more slowly than when inactive. When you try to pull extra current (from the device being in use + charging) your voltage may be dropping too low get a full charge. Result, charge % “peaks” and you can’t get to 100%.

I did not explain well, i want to charge to 60% and leave it there so the battery lasts longest

I do not believe charge disable is even available to the software at all. Li-ion charging is handled by a charge controller chip just like in our 18650 chargers. It may include more features like an reporting voltage and current in / out but you can’t expect charge disable to be an option. Manufactures are only interested in max charge. Not extending lifetime of the battery or even life of the phone. Working charge disable from within android would require a charging chip that supports a disable command, a manufacturer that cares to include the command in the hardware abstraction layer, and an API in android to send the command. And 99% of phone users don’t even know it’s possible to extend the lifetime of a li-ion like that. Plus how many want to live with a phone with only 60% battery life? So there is no interest in this.

Hell, many consumers don’t even care if the battery is non user removable. Or pay attention.

I figured as much, but i can still try to do what is possible to extend its life

Just replace the battery when it gets old?

indeed, i would just want to be sure i am getting a genuine replacement
