Another Random Knife Topic

I have been browsing on Manafont again, big mistake I know!

Anyway, I found This Knife

I really like the look of it, style, size and construction.

Just a couple of things. 1. I already have quite a few nice knives
2. I don’t know what kind of quality I can expect from this knife.

It is expensive enough to be decent quality if that was of any concern to the manufacturer, but it might also be overpriced junk.

Does anyone have this knife? If so, what is the steel quality and construction like?

Thanks in advance

I would prefer to buy known quality at that price point .

Have a look at Cold Steel .

You should buy it and let us know. I am pretty sure nobody here has it or has ever known a person who bought it. You would be the first person ever to spend $80 on a Chinese knife. I woukd love to know how it is quality wise.

Yes, exactly what I was thinking. It’s in the price bracket of some pretty decent knives. Thats the trouble with buying this kind of stuff online from a new source. Unknown quality. I had my eye on the Falkniven F1 copy on MF too, but I see someone in another thread got one and it would not take an edge. Still, it’s a $13 knife against this one, if price is any indication this one should be pretty good.

It sure does look sweet in the photos though, which is all I have to go by. It just caught my eye, which is often enough to catch my wallet  Google turns up nothing else on that makers name.

Thanks for the link Jack, I have a couple of Cold Steel knives, the Desert Dagger is one of my faves but it isn’t one I really use. I like their Tantos too, but have no real use for one.

I got a Benchmade Rant d2 steel for $85 online a few months ago. IMHO I would not spend moer than $20 on a unknown. I ordered the $13 F! btw.

Just found John Young Knives which looks like the genuine makers name this one is copying. Cant see one like it on his site though.

Thanks for the encouragement Six, like I need that lol :stuck_out_tongue:

I think the Chinese have a motto, “make it and they will buy”

’tis a slightly expensive test for sure, although many seem happy with the Elan folders etc, which are pretty cheap blades

Thanks for the input mate, how is the F1 copy working out? I have been following your thread in anticipation

The Rant looks pretty cool too, about the right size and shape, but I don’t care for serrated edges on hunting knives. Maybe ok on a survival knife, but personally I never found them useful. A good sharp plain edge makes me happy. A blade 4.5 - 5 inches, drop point or straight back with a nice point and not too much belly forward. I like the handle shape, very similar the the F1. I have a Kizlyer Sterkh-1 very similar in concept. Its a really good dependable knife, but a bit ordinary looking. I have a Buck Vanguard too, nice knife but I think it’s a tad heavy, same with the Boker 25th anniversary drop point I just treated myself to. I really don’t mind having a few knives that may not get used, I enjoy having them. To me they are things of beauty, practical art. They might see use when the zombie apocalypse comes

I’m not desperate for another knife as I have a few in that style. The one in the OP just ticks all the right boxes for me, if only it was VG10 or even 440C properly treated, I would snap it up in a flash

It looks like a great knife I agree and the risk is fun , I have purchased a few knives from this guy and have never been disappointed. Good Luck

I will let you know in a few weeks about the F1. I didn’t see your location so any suggestions for a place to purchase knives is null , sorry.

I have found that the copies/fakes are kinda poorly made but the knives that the Chinese Manufacturer puts his name on are pretty good (Enlan and SRM). I wonder why we cannot find fixed blades made by these two?

My F1 is a big P.O.S. It came with the fake leather sheath, not the plastic one I ordered and it grind is far off center and it is bent. Yea the blade is curved. I will become my dedicated throwing knife when I go camping/drinking.

Sorry to hear that bikenber73. I was kinda hoping it would be a good score. I like the look of the Falkniven a lot. I guess at the price, even if its crap it’s maybe worth the money just to fool around with. How does it balance for throwing? I would not risk a good blade with that kind of play, and I don’t think I could get any of those cheap throwing knife sets through customs here.

I never had the nerve to order the knife I started this post for. Just a bit pricey to take a chance on :frowning:

Balance is OK , not bad at all. If I would have gotten the right sheath; I would say that it is worth the $13 I paid.
I will try and bent it straight in my vise. It’s just the tip that is bent. I complained to Manafont and I am currently waiting there solution.
I am also thinking about grinding the tip down and making a chisel/knife out of it .

Wow. You could pick up a Cold Steel SRK for that kind of coin.

Sorry to hear of the F1 knockoff’s quality issues. We are always hoping to find a ‘gem’ on those sites to share with others…

Please tell me where I can find a $13 Cold Steel SRK

I would buy a dozen, if that were the case; I was referring to pretzy’s “Woodpecker” knife in the OP…

More power to you if you order it. Please let us know how it turns out.

The pics look nice. Full tang. Nice sheath.

I’ve been drooling over the D2 and Titanium Sebenza and Hinderer copies on AliExpress, but would never pay that much some vauge idea on what to expect.

Somebody has to go first, right??

Sure looks like a sweet knife but no way I’d drop that kind of coin on an unknown. Everything about it cosmetically and design-wise looks extremely nice.

Manafont just sent me a new one? Didn’t even have to ask !! GO MANAFONT

Wow, cool! Good on them. How does the new one stack up?

Was the second one any better?
