You just confirmed what I have seen before. I don't like the J19 compared to the Lustefire.. Looks too vulgar/tacky. I dunno. And its so much larger and heavier, yet, it does not have wider reflector for more throw. It just limits spill. And the larger tube for the larger trustfire batteries.. I prefer 26650, which I have lots of. So always a spare set of quality batteries available. Either for high amps or runtime.
When buying the lustefire you also get the nice HX-1175B driver. Yeah, the lustefire is more my cup of tea.
btw, the lustefire is in my latest beamshots comparison. Along with many other BLF favorites.
I love how ‘compact’ the btu is (though it is quite hard on the wrist because of it).
The plunger style of the J19 is nice too and the fact that you can use 32650 is just awesome. I will definitely have a J19 sometime in the future.

It certainly is monstrous with that fat battery tube. I just wish the Lustefire was machined and designed with as high of quality as the J19. I don’t know anyone that knows about LED lights. They all refer to those dollar store torches when you mention them. This is a pure show light, intended to make the jaws of the unenlightened drop. They’ll be in awe of it before it’s even turned on. It’s my one of a kind light, so I invested in some 32650 cells that will live in it permanently.

PersonallyI would not worry about driving it any harder, it will make the emitters more fragile, the heatsinking will be more critical, and who will see the 20% more output?
I’m going to keep it this way. It seems to be regulated at 5A, so with the new 32650 it will have better run time too. It’s funny how I was so ecstatic the first time I ever attained 5A per emitter, now I feel like its some kind of a failure. This hobby makes you nuts!
Besides the BTU Shocker, Lustefire/Tangsfire 3XML and TR-J19, are there any more of these large reflector flashlights out there that I haven’t seen. Those are the only three I can think of.
Ah yes SP03, not SC03. I’ve been getting a little tired of 4P soupcans lately. I needed a break from them. I could convert it to series, but a side switch limits driver choices.
I’m thinking of converting my 1 x XML Nage to a triple with series cells.
Awesome! I like to think of the TR-J19 as the BTU Shocker with 3x the runtime (and almost three times the length!) Very nice mod though, I love some of the small touches you put into the light.
