ANSI lux - inadvertently misleading ?

Before I get on, I’d like to state this post is by no means accusatory towards sellers / corporations :expressionless:
Do you knowledgeable BLF members think the 0.25 lux figure is too low for ANSI standards, and misleads buyers as to the useful beam length ?
I myself have been disappointed by the amount of throw a torch has, looking at the numbers and seeing THROW - 800M then seeing it in action, and realising I can’t see objects lit up anywhere near that far away.
This is different to sellers using their own throw numbers, such as a fully domed C8 having 500m of throw. I have seen that.
ANSI lux is of course a standard measurement, so no issues with it being used.
Any thoughts ?

I think it’s even more misleading when used in battery life measurements

Yes. What does the standard say?

This is true. Benchmarks and standards are all very well and good, but there are so many variables that they almost become void. As for torches, I see no point having such a low lux figure for throw.
