Any advice on cheap zoomy

Hey everyone, just looking for input on a half decent 18650 zoom light. I got an ostart zoom light for my son for hunting and I’m not too impressed with it. Paper thin tube, crappy lumens, sucky switch. Its not on par with some of the other cheap lights I’ve been buying. Any input would be appreciated

Mike

First of all Welcome to BLF, no need to be shy in here, best little forum on the Web — people kind of nice, too. So, try this:

Why a zoomie?

I’d say just pick a Convoy you like and enjoy the quality, performance and reliability.

This one is not too bad for the price…
I would prefer the black one with more power, but it seems it is discontinued.

Quality is not the greatest, it looks fairly cheap, but it works…

Don’t have this one,but I think they are pretty good…

Go to this page; many inexpensive choices

I’ll have to agree with top cat, why do you want a zoomie?
I’d also highly reccomend any of the convoy line (I have an s4 (t6-4c) I absolutely love) if you want something smaller or a tr-3t6 (get the one from fasttech, losts of knockoffs out there) if you want mega lumens and a good price with lots of battery options.

If you do want a zoomie check out the sipik 98, I’ve heard lots of good things about it although I don’t have one myself.

I prefer zoomies, too. The square spot does not bother me. If it does, that’s a sign that you may be OCD. And if I need to illuminate a wide area - say I’m searching a wide area close up for an object, I can easily zoom out and get a nice, even illumination field. It’s like carrying two flashlights in one.

I’m carrying a cheap Sipik SK-73 right now. Only problem is it gets hot if you leave it on high for a long time.

I have a couple of the Ultrafire SH98s, they have been pretty nice for the money. Very wide beam and lots of lumens. For the money, the build is pretty nice. Next mode memory with strobe, but you can change it out for a different driver at a later date if you want to.
