Wondering if anyone would be interested in a GB for Oakley Sunglasses? If 10 more pairs were ordered, I could offer 25% off MSRP and free shipping. Generally I have access to most inventory but some special editions and anything custom I cannot get.
I also carry Randolph Engineering Sunglasses. http://www.randolphusa.com/ American Owned and Made. I can offer the same discount if there is interest for 10 or more pairs.
If you are interested, post the SKU/s and quantity for each so I can confirm availability.
Shipping from Oakley is what kills me. 1 pair is $10 bucks, 10 pairs is $12. So as long as we can hit 10 or more pairs, just knock 25% off MSRP. Jupiter’s start at $130 so the GB price would from $97.50 with the actual price based on the SKU you pick. Some color/lens combinations are more expensive and polarized lens increase the cost too.
just did the math and would be $105 for the pair I want. if i was at work i would hop on it today. no chance of customs even if there is no engraving? been wanting a pair of matte black jupiter squared with blue logo and ice iridium lenses for a while
Ever wonder how they can support an entire store in an expensive strip mall on sunglasses alone? Wonder no more. Price fixing and astronomical profit margins.
While you may have some validity to the soda/pepsi comment… at least Coke exists, thus the prices remain somewhat reasonable, instead of astronomical.
Nothing rivals Luxottica. Nothing.
This is a problem.
Sorry for the thread hijack, but this company has struck a major nerve with me, and at least a handful more people may know the truth behind the $300+ glasses.
Price is what the market will bear. A product is only worth what consumers are willing to pay for it. If Oakley was not a desirable brand then it would fail, no matter who owned it. There are many options for quality sunglasses outside the Lux umbrella. Maui Jim, Wiley X and Spy all come to mind. Besides here is an opportunity to “stick to them” and buy at discount.
spy optics are not part of the monopoly, and the pair i wear retails for $160, the custom oakleys i want are only $170 (say that like it is nothing lol)
Same here for the same reason as ChiggerPepi. I think I might have informed him about it, so I can leave him hanging. Unfortunately it doesn't even matter for me since it sounds like I'd have to go direct for custom lenses.
I can understand wanting to sell it though. The level of tacticool that the Oakley brand has built up is hard for lots of people to resist. Trying to sell something as good would be challenging even if it costs a lot less.
Now if there were some nice OTG goggles, but I'd want something that wasn't for snow and could handle lots of sweat...I'm thinking trail work. I'd like to avoid this type of visor. Unfortunately the chances of a successful gb for this is about nil.
I also carry Randolph Engineering Sunglasses. http://www.randolphusa.com/ American Owned and Made. I can offer the same discount if there is interest for 10 or more pairs. Never knew passions ran so deep when it came to sunglasses. Just trying offer a good product at the best price possible.
Thanks, but lack of airflow while doing trail work is probably going to fog these right up. I probably need something with a fan. That gets crazy expensive though. I'll let you know if I find something suitable when trail maintenance season rolls around. Still, if I'm going to spend that kind of money, I should just get my eyes lasered so I can wear cheaper nonprescription eyeglasses.
Ooh, they do prescriptions. The price doesn't look bad either. I wouldn't buy this in a gb since I just bought a bunch of eyeglasses, but I'll keep you in mind when it's time to replace my eyeglasses...or sunglasses.
I went the Lasik route and it is actually why I started selling Oakley. After the procedure my eyes became extremely sensitive to glare. Fluorescent lighting drove me nuts. Oakley’s bronze polarized lens were the only ones that killed the glare enough that I was comfortable being outside for extended periods. I remember a few weeks after I had it done, I was on a two hour highway drive after a fresh snow. The glare was so bad, it felt like my eyes were on fire and I had to pull over. It was nuts.
It does not appear there is any real interest in a GB and that not surprising, it is a flashlight forum lol. But if you run across a pair you would like in the future, I am confident I can offer a good - perhaps even the best price.
If you're not already there, try on some of the survivalist forums like zombiehunters and survivalistboards. Most of the gear you sell looks like it's catered to that crowd. Those guys have the biggest hard on for tacticool. They'd really love it if you can find a case with MOLLE webbing for every piece of gear....seriously, there's a bunch of threads on a very tactical case for Nalgene bottles, as if those really need more protection. And then there's this:
Hmmm I was paying $200 for a pair of Oakleys back in 1997, which is a full 10 years before 2007 . The quality seems to have gone down slightly since then, but they still make good shades. I have a newer pair of polarized Oakley Gas Cans and a newer pair of polarized Ray-Ban Wayfarers and I usually prefer to wear the Oakleys.
I may be be interested in the group buy. What price can you do for a pair of black/black, non-polarized Five Squared? Amazon has them for about 80 bucks, so I may be in at 60, which would be 25% off of that. The wife already approved my “can I have another 100 dollar flashlight?” request, and I don’t want to push my luck
