I just watched the whole video, good info. Answered my question why Anet would disable safety checks in firmware - substandard components tripping false positives too often. Very bad call IMO.

The DIY would be much cheaper than a decent i3, but the time component would be signficant. Not cheaper than an Anet A8, but that’s a no-go. :slight_smile: The problem for me would be needing a buddy who can print out all the required parts. Might be something to look into for a second printer —- I will probably skip DIY for my first.

I definitely have some thinking to do.
