I actually saw that thread but nobody really said anything other than "it looks cool" or "I want one!". There is a link to a cpf page but that page is nonexistant (got deleted or something).
I was hoping that someone who ordered it and had received it would chime in and tell me how they liked it.
Oh, yeah that one. I got one. Bought it as a backup bike light, thinking that it would be the perfect replacement for the front light as well as the back light. I haven't used it on my bike yet, because it's on "night duty". The small red LED is very good for those black-ops trips to the fridge or the toilet, and having an XP-G as backup doesn't hurt.
Current draw on a flamed Trustfire 2400 is 24 mA on the tiny red LED and 1050 mA on the XP-G. So runtime on red should be a little less than forever. Beam on XP-G is good, decent hot spot and usable spill, practically artifact-free to me. On red it's a different story, the beam is elliptically and the off-center hot spot is basically a big red donut. But I wouldn't expect anything else from that little 3 mm LED, so this is no con at all.
One more thing: I just tried with my lab power supply, and it turns out that the light changes automatically from XP-G to 3mm LED when the voltage sags below 3.0 V. Cool feature IMO.
Greetings!
Jaygnar, is this to go in your Solarforce
http://solarforce-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=LF&s=44&id=267 ? I hoisted the link from your "What You Got Today" post. That is a very tempting light..
Confusius- Thank you so much for all the detailed info! That was just what I was looking for!!
Lensman- Yeah, I have ordered up a http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/ultrafire-cree-q5-mode-led-dropin-module-36v-84v-p-4053 and a http://solarforce-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=FA&s=18&id=63 for it as well
I'm just wanting to get a feel for multi-mode and single mode drop ins as well as forward and reverse clicky switches!
Also, I must have made a mistake in the other thread so I will fix it- The light I received yesterday was a http://solarforce-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=LF&s=45&id=305
(3 mode instead of the 5 mode) I'm not a fan of blinky modes
