When I saw this post from DB in the Convoy L6 XHP70 Beast thread it got me thinking about all of the untapped lumens in the G30. Has anyone done a current boost to the G30; if so what did you do.
Thanks,
Bob
The MT-G2 can do over 16A. But it’s only making some 4300-4500 lumens up there and has started dropping in output after 12A. Djozz has charts on all that, I find them to be very accurate to what I see in an actual light.
The XHP-70, being essentially a Quad XM-L2, makes more output on lower amperage and I’ve seen it doing some 12A or more with very high output, and accompanying heat factor as well.
The MT-G2 is available in 80CRI and 90CRI variants, at a cost of lumens. Even at a measely 1.1A, lumens drop is over 300. And the CRI 90 is at 3000K, very warm.
There is a 9V MT-G2 available that can run on 3 18650’s (or 3 26650’s as the case may be) and it makes more output, around 4900 lumens up in the high range, which is getting close to the High CRI XHP-70. I think my SR-90 is making just over 5000 lumens from rested and partially used cells.
